Historia
For 10 years, the California Interstate 5 highway was haunted by a dangerous serial killer. Incredibly skilled at staying ahead of the investigators as the bodies started to pile up, there wasn't enough evidence to charge the culprit with murder even once he'd been identified. Instead, they had to build a first-degree murder case in a few months while the killer was locked up on an assault conviction. Key to this was a cast of four: Vito Bertocchini, Kay Maulsby, Ray Biondi, and Faye Springer.

Narrator = dull
Revisado: 04-20-25
I'd never heard about this crime(s) before and was curious. The narrator ruins it for me. He's rather monotone and, when doing some voices, he got nasal and sounded slow-witted. I couldnt really get into the story.
Real life **SPOILER**:
The killer news killed in prison. Happened too long after to be included in the afterwords.

Historia
Dr. Margaret Richter has it all. She’s rich, thanks to her best-selling self-help books. She has a beautiful home in Cape Cod overlooking the beach. And she has a monthly book club that everyone is dying to get invited to. Literally. Because behind the crystal wine glasses, the fine linens and the catered hors d'oeuvres lies a tangled web of secrets, of deceit, of murder. No member of the book club is innocent—and many are guilty. And the person with the most to hide is Margaret Richter herself.

Got so vulgar
Revisado: 04-19-25
This started out so well. Hit midway the second chapter and it got so casually vulgar about sex. Done.

In March 1999, a Palm Beach matron and her socially ambitious husband invited the elite of the island for a dinner dance honoring Prince Edward. Among those dancing to the string orchestra that evening would be those accused of murder and spousal abuse, and others who would suffer fates both unseemly and unspeakable. Among the outer circle there would be murders, suicides, and fatal fires.

Not a story, but a collection
Revisado: 04-05-25
I expected to read about a particular crime. This is more an expose of the wealthy of old Palm Beach. There are many interesting characters, but I got lost trying to keep track. Good read to kill time. Not one I'd buy again.

Historia
In Creekstone, Texas, a small, quiet suburb of Houston, football was king and David Temple was a prince. A former high school and college gridiron-star-turned-coach, he had a fairy-tale marriage to bright, vivacious Belinda Lucas, a teacher at the local high school who was so warm and popular her colleagues called her "The Sunshine Girl". The fairy tale ended savagely on January 11, 1999, when Belinda's lifeless body was discovered in a closet. Her skull had been shattered by a shotgun blast at close range. She was eight months pregnant.

Could NOT stop listening
Revisado: 03-25-25
If you like true crime stories, do NOT start this unless you have time. Once I started & got to about the third chapter, I could not put this away.
+ It's an intriguing story that I'd not heard of before.
+ The narrator is most excellent.
+ The author did a great job of illustrating the main characters. I felt like I knew a few of them by the end.
+ The pacing is good, not rushing through anything, but not dragging on and on.
The only thing I would have liked more is to have more followup. However that was easy enough to search out online. That's when I realized that a lot of followup happened years after the release of the book!
The only thing with an audiobook is that you don't always get to see any photos. I found myself searching to see what the characters looked like. I will be looking for more reads from this author.

Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

This wins for the narration
Revisado: 02-14-25
I remember this being on a long-ago summer reading list when I was in school (over 40+ years ago) & I had to push myself to just get through it. Not enjoyable at all. As an adult, I probably still would not have very much enjoyed *reading* it myself, but the narration here is wonderful. I tried to listen to the another version & couldn't settle into it. Glad I found this one. This is the kind of book I have to be in the mood for, but it's so worth finally getting through it.
The story itself is more interesting and so much better than any of the movies or TV shows. As an adult. I easily picked up the biblical themes of good and evil and Satan as the adversarial Dracula. I only vaguely noticed that when reading the story as a child. I am also fascinated with how well the author told the story through various characters diaries and letters. Good stuff.
The only criticism is the female characters felt a bit shrill and overly dramatic, but the complaint is minor.

Historia
In July 1970, actress Elaina Styles was slain in her rented Seattle mansion along with her husband and their son's nanny. When the baby's remains were found buried in a shallow grave close to a hippie commune, police moved in - only to find all its members already dead in a grisly mass suicide. Now, decades later, a film about the murders is shooting at the mansion. On-set caterer Laurie Trotter ignores gossip that the production is cursed. But then people start dying....

Good story. Ran long.
Revisado: 02-08-25
The story is really decent, but it ran a lot longer than needed. Because of the way the segments were split up, I got a bit confused about the characters.

This is a must-have for anyone wanting to understand the various religions (as to how they relate to Christianity). The only problem I have is that there are only chapter numbers when listening. There are 42 chapters so I need to bookmark and label each if I want to get back to a specific religion.

This is probably the best presentation of the story ever. The characters were very alive in my mind & Poirot was SO nicely done.

Are we living in reality—or something else entirely? The boys dive into the Simulation Hypothesis, exploring the provocative idea that our world might be an advanced computer simulation. This theory, first formally introduced by philosopher Nick Bostrom in 2003, challenges everything we think we know. Join Sean, Jorge, and Eric as they trace the roots of this idea, starting with ancient philosophies. They uncover fascinating parallels: Plato’s cave allegory, where shadows on a wall symbolize a distorted perception of reality; Zhuangzi’s butterfly dream, blurring the line between dream ...

I enjoy listening & the guys balance the chatter with staying on topic. . I do understand that these are adults who use foul language, but I sure wish I could listen with my teenaged nephew. The topics are just what he likes. That's the only negative criticism I have.
