well written well narrated reasonably good. could have been quite a bit longer I think, there are some nuances and some minutia, details, specifics that I think are missing... but overall? definitely a 4 out of 5. I would say with about two more chapters and some really specific detail towards the end this would be a 5 of 5

I suppose that's perhaps harsh considering some of those details might not exist? maybe I'm seeking information that we've not yet discovered... lol

PLAGIARISM & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY THEFT

Revisado: 06-07-22

The author has essentially taken an amalgamation of some of the world's most fantastic science fiction and excellent comic books - changing only a few core concepts and words and then claiming authorship as their own.

if you are familiar with 20th century comic books as well as ancient yoga sutras and classical Hinduism: you will see this entire reading as "elementary school level plagiarism".

With brazen casual disdain for intellectual property the author has collected several 20th century pre-existing fantasy and sci-fi works together into one giant middle finger to the copyright office, insulting everyone who is familiar with those works (by assuming their intelligence is so low that they won't be able to recognize where the content was stolen from)

marvel comics, DC comics, dark horse comics, The works of Philip K. Dick, various works of Isaac Asimov, Frank Herbert and even religious classics such as the Bhagavad Gita, The Srimad bhagavatam and the yoga sutras of pantangi

STOLEN
thrown into a blender
with a handful of cat turds
and served up to you the reader

There ought to be laws about this sort of thing, this does not constitute free speech: this constitutes outright plagiarism theft and brazen lying.

I think I have grounds to demand a refund here as my money has been stolen.

Valuable time I will want back on my deathbed was stolen from me listening to this impudent disrespectful nonsense.

The behavior exhibited in this book by the author is the primary reason our race has difficulty evolving and determining the truth.

MESSAGE TO THE AUTHOR:
You do not have a right to lie like this.
You are doing far more harm than good.
You will reap what you sow, but in the meantime, you have also put a colossal heap of elephant dung on the front yard of the human race that we now have to sift through and clean up.

Closing meditation:
we put parental advisory warnings on material which is violent, vulgar or pornographic - we need to start putting the following labels on books like this:
- "unsubstantiated"
- "unproven"
- "questionable"
- "fantasy presented as fact"
- "LARPing supplement

This doesn't even belong in a science fiction category, they just needs to be a new category called "lying"

The author put no more effort into this book than a 5-year-old puts into lying to their parents about "being able to fly and do everything that Superman can do"

what's tragic about this is we would encourage a 5-year-old to stop lying but compliment them for their creativity and try to convince them to be a science fiction author one day

but when adults behave this way? and they produce material like this and pretend it's real? It's not only absurd... It goes on to harm other already mentally ill people who are unable to distinguish the difference between delusions and reality

This book deserves harsh criticism and scathing reviews. There's a big difference between lying to people and writing science fiction.

The ultimate tragedy here is this author could have been a moderately good science fiction author, but they instead decided to just lie to people and try to make money off of the feeble-minded or the mentally ill.

I am appalled that the author has produced a colossal amount of work and that it has been allowed to disseminate under the loose definition of freedom of speech...

This is neither an exercise in truth nor freedom of speech. It fits into the same category as mega church televangelism and fake faith healing.

If there was ever a place to draw a line in the sand to clearly define the difference between lying and free speech... This book is a perfect example of something that should be illegal.

If you like to listen to a 5-year-old lie to you for hours on end then this is the book for you! The author puts no more effort into his lying than a 5-year-old would in covering up stealing a cookie from a cookie jar with chocolate smeared on his lips.

The supposed valiant Thor from Venus delusionally attempts to take credit for every good or major scientific and political advancement the world has seen since 1950... without actually lifting a finger to do anything real in the world other than the word salad that has poured out through his keyboard into the pages of this audiobook.

there should be laws against this kind of nonsense.

what's tragic here is this has the makings of potentially being an excellent science fiction series...

but the author decided to waste their talent on lying to people instead of using creative license to develop a science fiction series

tragic

As usual Frank Herbert calls into question the deep fundamental nature of the human desire to control the chaos of the universe and presents to us clear examples of how absurd, fascinating, entertaining, important and futile our inventions and machinations of control are in the face of universal entropy.

the narration was done well but the content itself was pretty much common sense. unless you are a sociopath completely incapable of understanding human facial expressions or you're an alien completely unfamiliar with human culture then don't waste your time with this book I don't see how this made its way into the collection of Great Courses material because usually their audio books are fantastic this however was not the case for this item

If you could sum up How to Win an Election in three words, what would they be?

"How Win Election"

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

The truth it provides

What does Doug Kaye bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Nothing, but he did a fantastic job of narration.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

What American political tradition lacks.

Any additional comments?

This should be standard in schools.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would. This book was a great way to familiarize one-self with Spinoza quickly and efficiently.

What other book might you compare Spinoza in 90 Minutes to and why?

This question does not compute. Clearly audible made poor choices in outsourcing this website. lol

What does Robert Whitfield bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

WTF? this question is unanswerable.

If you could give Spinoza in 90 Minutes a new subtitle, what would it be?

I would not.

Any additional comments?

Again, great audio book, straight to the point and useful.
