Historia
When Navy SEAL Adam Brown woke up on March 17, 2010, he didn’t know he would die that night in the Hindu Kush Mountains of Afghanistan—but he was ready. In a letter to his children, not meant to be seen unless the worst happened, he wrote, “I’m not afraid of anything that might happen to me on this earth, because I know no matter what, nothing can take my spirit from me.”

A moving account of SEAL operator's life. warts and all. Also a great testimony about the power of faith and the power of addiction

How did the US Navy - the branch of the US military tasked with patrolling the oceans - ever manage to produce a unit of raiders trained to operate on land? And how, against all odds, did that unit become one of the world’s most elite commando forces, routinely striking thousands of miles from the water on the battlefields of Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, even Central Africa?

Highly Recommended
Revisado: 02-02-25
Well researched, well written, and well read, this audiobook lays out many elements of history that are not deeply understood or appreciated -- and provides a great example of how military capabilities evolve.
I am not sure I agree with the Author's optimism about the future survival of special operations capabilites and missions -- not because the need will not be there -- but rather because the nature of technology will force these kinds of capabilities to take on new mantles and to perform tasks we cannot even envision today.
What is awesome about this book is that it provides a lens showing how men and the forces that they have served in adapted to meet the needs of war -- as the character of war itself has evolved.

Historia
Jamie Winship spent nearly thirty years living and working in conflict zones, and during that time he has learned an important truth: all human conflict originates from fear, and fear originates from a false view of God, ourselves, and others. Until we exchange what's false for what's real, we will never experience being fully alive, fully human, and fully free. Living Fearless is your invitation to listen closely to what God is trying to say to you about himself, about the person he created you to be—and also about all those other people he created and loves.

For people looking to discover themselves
Revisado: 12-25-23
I deeply enjoyed this book and listened to it in one sitting. The book is well organized and designed to provide practical assistance to those who are struggling to discover their way in the world -- I would also commend it to teachers and counselors seeking to help others find their way within a context of truth seeking. The examples should resonate with anyone -- and the book shows how anyone can legitimately come to follow Jesus from wherever they are right now.

When Elon Musk was a kid in South Africa, he was regularly beaten by bullies. One day a group pushed him down some concrete steps and kicked him until his face was a swollen ball of flesh. He was in the hospital for a week. But the physical scars were minor compared to the emotional ones inflicted by his father, an engineer, rogue, and charismatic fantasist.

Historia
There is nothing more essential to our health and well-being than breathing. Yet, as a species, humans have lost the ability to breathe correctly, with grave consequences. Journalist James Nestor travels the world to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it. The answers aren’t found in pulmonology labs, as we might expect, but in the muddy digs of ancient burial sites, secret Soviet facilities, New Jersey choir schools, and the smoggy streets of São Paulo. Nestor tracks down men and women exploring the hidden science behind ancient breathing practices.

Revisado: 02-26-23
I am one who has had sinus issues my entire life. I wish I had known about some of these things much earlier in life. Very happy to have some insight into useful breathing practices and the rationale for them. Using them now to reduce/prevent snoring and experimenting with them with respect to improving my performance in all areas.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

just plain awesome.
Revisado: 10-31-21
I was hesitant about reading this book even though it came highly recommended. Bottom line it was awesome. I'm not usually a fan of listening to stories about other people's lives but this book was truly fascinating and I'm glad that he wrote it. I would strongly recommend it to anyone interested interested in compelling stories told honestly. It is and always the easiest to listen to but that's true of life in general. Well done.

Historia
For more than 40 years, the US government has researched extrasensory perception, using it in attempts to locate hostages, fugitives, secret bases, and downed fighter jets, to divine other nations' secrets, and even to predict future threats to national security. The intelligence agencies and military services involved include CIA, DIA, NSA, DEA, the navy, air force, and army - and even the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Now, for the first time, New York Times best-selling author Annie Jacobsen tells the story of these radical, controversial programs.
