Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

The Legend of Stephen King grows
Revisado: 09-14-22
Nobody tells a mystical quest saga quite like SK. His characters are all easy to bond with. The story is compelling throughout. I thank Seth Numrich for a very nuanced narration.
Definitely worth a listen. Kudos Mr. King! 👏

Deep down here by the dark water lived old Gollum, a small slimy creature. I don’t know where he came from, nor who or what he was. He was Gollum—as dark as darkness, except for two big round pale eyes in his thin face. He had a little boat, and he rowed about quite quietly on the lake; for lake it was, wide and deep and deadly cold.

Between your burps and the awful material I don't know how I finished. Making fun of the Phantom Menace is a softball. Yet you whiffed.
EDIT: Ah I now see what you're all about. You're doing God's work thanks for the laughs

Historia
Is Bev Mathers going crazy? He's been hearing chilling voices in his head, seeing nightmarish visions that just can't be true. And it keeps getting worse and worse. No, unfortunately for Bev, he's completely sane. What's taking control of him is far more terrifying than insanity. And it has an unimaginable purpose... Bev has become an innocent pawn in an infernal game, a victim of hellish forces beyond understanding. His visions of blood and debauchery are growing more ghastly every day.

For your consideration
Revisado: 04-01-22
Let me start by saying I respect the effort of Michael Laimo in creating this novel. I'm sure I couldn't do half as good if I tried. That said, here are my thoughts on "The Demonologist"
Overall I rate this novel ☆☆☆. The experience was entertaining, and moved along at a brisk pace.
The performance earned ☆☆☆☆ in my opinion. The narrator did a great job of emphasizing dialogue correctly when required. This added to the overall paranoid feeling you get while listening to the story. His tone is soft overall, lending believability to his female dialogue.
The story earned a solid ☆☆☆ rating. I debated four stars for a minute but settled with the three. I found the story to be a fun take on the possession/demon themed trope. Without spoiling the plot for you, let's just say there are a couple pretty clever twists within the main story that add spice to the drama unfolding before us listeners. However, taken as a whole, the story is good, not great.
The main reason I wanted to review this novel has to do with the author's style of writing. I have never encountered this "issue" before and because it affected my listening experience I found it worthy of mentioning.
As I was getting into the meat of the story, a couple hours into the book, I began to notice something. It was starting to pull me out of the novel's grasp. I was losing focus. Trying to put my finger on it, I went to trusty old Google and searched something like, "what's it called when a writer becomes too descriptive/uses too many metaphors". There appeared an answer to my query. The literary term I saw was "Purple Prose".
Now you may think that I am being overly critical, or splitting hairs in an attempt to find some fault in the book. That of course is not true. This issue found me. It poked me and prodded me until I had no choice but to acknowledge it.
The amount of adjectives, adverbs, and overall metaphors within this novel has to be on the highest end ever. If you were an English student and needed an example of purple prose look no further. There is not a noun or verb safe from the author's need to flesh it out for us. The rain doesn't simply fall to the streets. In this story it is more like "The cold, wind swept driving rain pummels down onto the concrete like a boxer's fists pounding a woozy opponent in the 12th round of a heavyweight prize fight."
In the beginning I enjoyed the descriptive writing and found it useful in painting a picture of the scenes in my head. But by the middle of the novel I was just waiting for the next metaphor to fall, trying to guess beforehand what it may be. So, ironically, the thing the author was doing in his attempt to ensnare me into his world had the exact opposite effect. I was losing focus, interest, and desire to continue.
Of course I did continue, and enjoyed the story to its conclusion. It may certainly be more of a "me" thing here and most listeners will not even notice. But, if you're anything like me, beware.
Thanks again to the author for a fun, exciting, and yes, scary story. I would love to know your opinion of this review Mr. Laimo. As you might've said, " I will wait with baited breath, like a spurned lover at the altar of her 3rd and hopefully final marriage, for your response!"

A young, naïve but ultimately courageous hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall towers above his rivals—in stature if not experience. Tagging along is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg—whose true name is hidden from all he and Dunk encounter. Though more improbable heroes may not be found in all of Westeros, great destinies lay ahead for these two . . . as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits. Featuring more than 160 all-new illustrations by Gary Gianni, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a must-have collection that proves chivalry isn’t dead—yet.

Historia
The Gods Never Left Us contends that recent advancements in biotechnology, astrophysics, engineering, and artificial intelligence not only give us a fresh perspective on his ancient astronaut theory but actually validates it. We are - as a race - embarking on the exact same trajectory of our own interplanetary colonization, just as von Daniken suggested Earth itself was colonized. ETs are definitely at work today. And that affects all of us.

Decent Book
Revisado: 02-03-22
I found it to be a bit of a rehashing of previous Von Daniken novels. There are a few new details, and an interesting story at the beginning. I believe Von Daniken is on to something with his theories, thus the book was enjoyable.
I love the narrator's soft tone.

Historia
“Sam, could you do me a favor?” Thus begins a story that has now become part of America's true-crime hall of fame. It is a gory, grotesque tale befitting a Stephen King novel. It is also a David and Goliath saga - the story of a young lawyer fresh from the public defender's office whose first client in private practice turns out to be the worst serial killer in our nation's history. This is a gripping true crime narrative that reenacts the gruesome killings and the famous trial that shocked a nation.

Interesting angle on the Gacy case
Revisado: 12-20-21
I enjoyed this book immensely. Sam has a pie in the sky outlook on life, the law, the United States, that's almost contagious. Almost. While his function of defending a psycho serial killer in court is necessary, I do find it a little seedy. But all together it is a fascinating story for sure. I'm amazed at what a putz Gacy really was. Nothing special.

Good book with a rather rapid conclusion
Revisado: 12-15-21
I did enjoy Alien Encounrers. Spoilers ahead as I wish to comment on the ending conclusions reached in this book.
The author did a fine job of laying out their reasoning for UFOs not to be little grey beings who flew unimaginable distances through time and space just to probe our rear ends. Laid out as such it is hard to argue that.
However, as we are finally led to the author's take on the anamolies, I am once again confronted with an out of this world answer. Demons. Demons are piloting these craft in an attempt to muddy the waters before the arrival of Christ. This is what I got out of it anyways.
Now as well as he showed cause and fact to disprove little green men, very little evidence is shown to prove these are demonic entities carrying out the will of the Devil. I guess I'll have to take it on faith that this is so.
