Was reintroduced to Matt Murphy on off the cuff podcast. Great book, and the added plus is he reads it himself. If your like me and gobble up every John Douglas, or fbi book this is right up your alley.

I was looking for a creepy serial killer book but boy was I wrong. But I mean that in all the right ways. This tale is so far from that but it’s written and read very well. Strap in and enjoy…

Well worth a listen if you are into true crime, as someone who is well versed in true crime this is worth a listen. Not your typical “ Ted bundy was a bad guy he did this and that.” I do find it funny that James shits on a ton of writers and their books in this.

I listen to a lot of true crime and two low key authors I love are M. William Phelps and James Renner.

Listen, this book would be a really good read for someone unfamiliar with true crime and beginning to become interested in it. But unfortunately the description is very misleading, it claims to have facts that you’ve never heard before, anyone who knows true crime will have heard all of this before. And I even found a few errors in it, for example; Charlie Brandt didn’t live with his niece, because of the hurricane they relocated to her house, they didn’t all live together. Now I know that’s nit picky but if your gonna claim this is going to have trivia that even the hardened true crime junkie won’t know you’re wrong. This would be a recommendation for beginners but anyone who considers themselves well versed in true crime this is a pass.
