Historia
Henry and Nomi are thrilled to find out they’re going to be parents. There is so much to think about, so many decisions they’ll need to make, about feeding schedules and childcare and schools. But there’s one decision they never would have imagined facing, and even considering the choice is a minefield of emotions and experiences and expectations. After all, the only thing that hangs in the balance is the course of their child’s life.

So You Want to Talk About Race!
Revisado: 06-12-24
This is a deep dive in the complexity of discussing race when it comes to real life and not just theoretically. It hits differently when you are living it and have to make decisions about the people you love. This isn’t critical thinking time. It’s the questions you have to take to a higher being to help you make the best choices all the while knowing you will not get it right 100% of the time.

This booked shocked me. I enjoyed the character development. Even Minnesota a place I’ve never visited now had life beyond George Floyd, Prince and Rose Nylund.

Historia
De’Andrea Whitman, her husband Malik, and their five-year-old daughter, Nina, are new to the upper-crust white suburb of Rolling Hills, Virginia—a move motivated by circumstance rather than choice. De’Andrea is heartbroken to leave her comfortable life in the Black oasis of Atlanta, and between her mother-in-law’s Alzheimer's diagnosis, her daughter starting kindergarten, and the overwhelming whiteness of Rolling Hills, she finds herself struggling to adjust to her new community. To ease the transition, her therapist proposes a challenge: make a white girlfriend.

The Ancestors Are Smiling 😊
Revisado: 08-23-23
I’m in love just from the first episode. It’s something that reminds me of being a kid and surrounded by my elders and cousins. Oh the joy of food and fun.
It’s beautiful when you listen to something and you feel seen and heard. No explanations needed:
Not all mac and cheese are created equal (Let the Church say AMEN 🙏🏿)

I love everything about Auntie’s book. She is the epitome of juicy living as you age. I was feeling extra blue recently. I’d listen to this book and cackle.
Thank you Auntie for being so unapologetic about your living and your transparency. You can never imagine your reach.
And that booming rich voice is LIFE! 😘

Books come to you when you are ready for the lesson. I had this book for months before I decided to finish it. After the ‘slap’ I decided I would continue my listen so I’d better understand it. But what I got was a picture of my own life. I could identify with Will 100%. I’m so appreciative of Will’s vulnerability. I think I just got the courage to embrace and explore my Q for Questioning in the LGBTQA+ because of the beauty that exists on the other side of this great fear. Peace and blessings
