Historia
Finally, Flora Hyde-Clare has wrest the narrative from Beatrice by finding her own compelling murder mystery to solve. Well, it’s not entirely her own because the victim is her cousin’s former beau Mr. Theodore Davies, whose father cruelly separated the young lovers (though not so cruelly, for it left the door open for Bea to woo the duke of Kesgrave).

Charming Ending despite less engaging PMC
Revisado: 02-04-22
initially disappointed with substitution of flora as main character. however overall story is interesting and engaging. sweet and fun ending. nothing can be as engaging as the repartee between Kesgrave & Bea but it's still an enjoyable mystery. I sometimes want to smack Flora but in the end I'm glad I didn't stop reading.

Must Read!!!
Revisado: 09-07-21
I was looking for something easy, fun and light. I definitely got the fun but was surprised and delighted to also get well written characters, believable conflict, and nuanced plot rare to this genre of romance.
Quinn elevates traditional chick-lit/romantic comedy tropes not only through The primary love story but with amazing friendship, sibling and family elements providing a rich and layered story I could definitely read again.
If you like romantic comedies or complex growth within your characters IE dramedies then this is a can't miss!

More Than Romance
Revisado: 08-28-21
I have no idea why this is classified as erotica. has a depth of character development, plot and emotional resonance rare in contemporary romance.
There are certainly sex scenes and they are certainly hot but unlike some romance & especially the rare "erotica" I've attempted to read it doesn't rush to get there. when it does the intensity feels earned because the author has already allowed the characters to grow and the reader is able to understand the motivations. My biggest pet peeve with a lot of books with hot sex is that once it gets to the hot sex it seems to be all that happens until the last chapter of the book. this one though continues to grow the characters and doesn't overemphasize the sexes.
it is beautiful love story not only of the two main characters but also a love story friendship between Ellie and Jocelyn. I could never have guessed that this would be such a satisfying book and so well-rounded. highly highly recommend!

More Than Your Average Romantic Comedy
Revisado: 08-02-21
in the parlance of movies this would fit in the category of dramedy. I expected a fun, light-hearted romantic comedy and there is a good bit of that but without being too heavy it deals with some real as opposed to the standard convoluted life and love conflict. Great character building sometimes a little drawn out and the narrator isn't always that good at differentiating voices but otherwise excellent and not overly distracting.

Historia
The Waverleys have always been a curious family, endowed with peculiar gifts that make them outsiders even in their hometown of Bascom, North Carolina. Even their garden has a reputation, famous for its feisty apple tree that bears prophetic fruit, and its edible flowers, imbued with special powers.
Generations of Waverleys tended this garden. Their history was in the soil. But so were their futures.
Together again in the house they grew up in, the Waverley sisters realize they must deal with their common legacy - if they are ever to feel at home in Bascom - or with each other.

Better than I remember
Revisado: 08-02-21
I adored this book years ago and when I saw it on sale I had to get it. One of the best narrated books I've listened to. in addition to an incredible narrator who created indelible individual characters there were great seamless effects that attitude but never took away from the story like a slight difference when characters were on a phone call. the best narrators are those you don't think of till the story is over. magical realism at its finest

Can you fall in love like they do in the movies? It's Evie Summers' job to find out. Because if she can't convince her film agency's biggest client, Ezra Chester, to write the romantic-comedy screenplay he owes producers, her career will be over. The catch? He thinks rom-coms are unrealistic - and he'll only put pen to paper if Evie shows him that it's possible to meet a man in real life the way it happens on the big screen. Cynical Evie might not believe in happily ever after, but she'll do what it takes to save the job that's been her lifeline.

Graham Greene’s evocative analysis of the love of self, the love of another, and the love of God is an English classic that has been translated for the stage, the screen, and even the opera house. Love & Hate & Faith
Revisado: 06-29-21
I have long loved this book and held it as one of my favorites of all time. A true modern classic. I wrote a paper in college on the faith within it but there's so much more and it's not necessary to see in it faith only as it pertains to religion.
there's themes of how love and hate are so inexplicably tied together. unique characters and a wholly themes eternal.
this book could have suffered from being an audiobook but instead flourishes under the perfection that is Colin first and how he brings you into the story and you forget you're listening similar to how you can get lost in reading.

five stars and two stars.
Revisado: 05-28-21
Warner's story was such a great perspective. unlike so many "alternate perspective" books it wasn't a repeat with tiny little things here and there. I couldn't say enough about understanding him more, getting some perspective but also loving that it wasn't the same timeline and that it was unique
Adam's story was the complete opposite or rather just like all the others. where this writer has been incredible overall in this series, creating unique voices for each of her characters and helping to flush them out and grow them, this felt like it was written by another author and the narrator was just okay so it didn't help but I don't think there's a narrator alive that could have made this feel like anything but a slog and a repeat and I couldn't wait for it to be over but didn't feel like I could turn it off in case I missed something.
Warner story opened so much up and helped me to understand the complexity of his character but Adam's story made me have a harder time liking him. it did nothing to illuminate his character luckily I don't think it did much harm but I do not understand it for its purpose

Wonderful premise ruined by feckless heroine
Revisado: 05-03-21
I am so disappointed. I loved the premise and it started so well. The narrator was excellent and the her o intriguing. The main character even had promising attributes. however despite being a graduate with a history degree she made absolutely no effort to even act like she knew anything of the time. Even if the mention of having just seen pride and prejudice was her only knowledge of the time she continued to act clueless and weeks into being in the 19th century acted like a clueless adult that knew nothing of how she should act. I love to see a modern woman try to be in that time but it's one thing to seem feisty and intelligent another to use words like cool and say oh my god and holy cow without any effort to fit in. I wanted so much for it to improve and had to stop and I hate not finishing. such a shame. so much to like

A Promising Disappointment
Revisado: 01-19-21
Right off the top I'll let you know that I did not finish this book. I appreciated the main character and the journey he went through to grow through his grief and move forward. The daughter was the most enjoyable character. l from the direction I expected a different tone and a more adventurous unique story that became anything but.
while the narrator was serviceable his female characters left things to be desired and perhaps that lent to me not really enjoying the primary female character. as I had expected a more unique story I started to dread that it was goingbut I decidedly did not and had to give up.
