Historia
An amazing breakthrough in genetic engineering made by Vergil Ulam is considered too dangerous for further research, but rather than destroy his work, he injects himself with his creation and walks out of his lab, unaware of just how his actions will change the world.

Historia
In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Good in-depth story that has light years more to explore.
Revisado: 01-08-24
Great science, logical 1st person world building and realistic choices common in Andy’s work. Many different avenues and characters could still be explored here..🤞🏼def recommend-takes a bit for story to start percolating -but well worth it!

Historia
Thirty years after the Great Fatigue infected the globe—and the treatment regressed most of the human race to a primitive state—Seth Keller makes a gruesome discovery in his adoptive father’s makeshift lab. This revelation forces him to leave the safety of his desert home and the only other person left in the world…at least, as far as he knows. In the jungles of Costa Rica, Sarah Peoples has made her own discovery—just as horrific, and just as life-changing. It will take her far from the fledgling colony of New Haven, yet never out of reach of its ruthless leader.

Good story!

Interesting premise, well described settings, does hopscotch a little geographically..emotional struggles of characters explored-especially the effects of long-term trauma on trust and optimism. Important tie-in at the end by author..

Ending is a terrible dodge.. don’t recommend...
Revisado: 11-19-21
I got this book by accident, thinking it a mystery. But being involved in a hellish custody dispute for several years, I thought maybe the universe was sending a message.
The raw emotions as the father in the story and his relationship to his child are almost ritually destroyed by a faceless process without the will to enforce boundaries are accurate.
The “silver bullet” strategy is a way for one parent to erase the other as both parent and a person. I’ve known two fathers who took their own lives rather than continue to battle with all joy sapped from their lives and all limbs tied behind their back. This ultimate assault on a person’s character is devastating, and can’t be taken back.
The strange disjointed ending comes out of nowhere, and lets the Mother character off the hook, while leaving the Father hollowed-out, ranting, and alone-and blessing the mom with magical protective instincts-that reinforce the continuing bias against fathers who dare to care about their children enough to fight for them.
This could’ve been a really good book. A case of fiction illuminating greater truth, But the ending sub-plot undercuts everything. And the suggestion of a happy ending for the grandparents seems magical thinking-derived.
There really are people “wicked” enough to prevent kids from seeing their grandparents.
I know a couple.
This book starred out truthy and ended badly.

Historia
A man must survive the zombie apocalypse armed with only a shotgun, a Samurai bat, and the will to live among the unliving in this horror series debut. It’s been two years since civilization ended in an unstoppable wave of chaos and blood. Now, former house painter Augustus “Gus” Berry lives a day-to-day existence of waking up, getting drunk, and preparing for the inevitable moment when “they” will come up the side of his mountain and penetrate his fortress.

Good story, well performed
Revisado: 08-31-21
This story was put together so far without a lot of artifice. The characters are normal people thrown into a Zombie apocalypse. But the detail, and emotional lives draw you in, without mush. The characters make a lot of mistakes, definitely brought-on by the constant precariousness of their world, and the challenge of escaping the “dead” and not knowing if the “living” can be trusted.
It’s fun.
