In a world that is “woke”, how many Christians are actually awake? This short theologically sound primer is a resource for pastors, ministry leaders, community leaders, and other thinking Christians that explains carefully and clearly what critical race theory and wokeness truly are, what the Bible teaches about race and ethnicity, why wokeness is distinct from Christianity and should be rejected, and how the church can work for unity based in the gospel of grace.

Historia
In Gay Girl, Good God, author Jackie Hill Perry shares her own story, offering practical tools that helped her in the process of finding wholeness. Jackie grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fiber of her being. She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women, when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could?

Great story! Great reading!
Revisado: 12-02-22
Jackie does an exquisite job of telling her story. It’s even better to have her as her own narrator. The elements of Spoken Word poetry and colorful descriptors are masterfully woven together. This is a great book for gay people, straight people, Christians and non-Christians to listen to as it really describes the human experience. Jackie’s struggle may have been same-sex attraction and you may not relate to that but we all have stuff. We all have affections that will take us over if we let them. Thank you, Jackie for sharing your story and your insights. They are invaluable.

Historia
> The Paradox of Jamestown discusses the circumstances surrounding English colonization of Virginia and the evolution of slavery in that colony. Beginning with an examination of 16th- and 17th-century life in England, the authors explain many of the reasons - social, political, religious, and economic - people chose to leave the Old World for a new life in the Americas. They describe the early interactions between the settlers and the Indians, the difficulties those groups had in establishing cooperative relationships, and the many difficulties the settlers had in adjusting to life in the New World.

Informative and compassionate

Andrew’s book is well written and informative without being too academic. In it, the writer speaks truth while showing great compassion and understanding for the struggler. He also speaks plainly to the church about its need to be educated and kind. This is a great reference book for any serious Christian’s or struggler’s library.

Historia
Only once in the last 250,000 years have humans stumbled upon a way to lift ourselves out of the endless cycle of poverty, hunger, and war that defines most of history. If democracy, individualism, and the free market were humankind’s destiny, they should have appeared and taken hold a bit earlier in the evolutionary record. The emergence of freedom and prosperity was nothing short of a miracle.

Rod Dreher’s interviews with former dissidents of the Eastern Block was a warning about what is likely coming, but also how to prepare oneself to stand in the face of adversity. We’ve had it so easy for so many years in this country.
