Historia
Lark Smith has always had a plan for her life: find a fantastic guy, create a marriage as blissful as her parents’, pop out a couple of kids, and build a rewarding career as an oncologist. Things aren’t going so well. For one, the guy didn’t work out. Theoretically, she’d love to find someone else, but it hasn’t happened. Two, she’s just been transferred out of Oncology for being too emotional. (Is it her fault she’s a weeper?) Three, her parents just split up. Deviating from the plan was … well, not in the plan. A potential solution comes from the foul-tempered surgeon Lorenzo Santini.

Best book I've listened to in a long time
Revisado: 08-26-24
This book was riveting from the first chapter. I loved this book. You felt like you knew each one of the characters and that you could really understand them an where they were at in their lives. I loved Lark, but also the other characters, Justin, her mother and father, twin, sibs, Joy, Lorenzo, Dante, really everyone. I cried and laughed and couldn't wait to get back to listen to it. I think this is one of my favorite Kristan Higgins' books.
The different readers were a great touch. Sometimes, if they use the same reader for all of the characters it can get confusing, but this was well done.
Otherwise, a big thank you, Kristan for an awesome book.

Historia
When Chloe is given a peek at the script for an epic love story, she decides to take her destiny into her own hands and request an audition for the lead female role, Esther Kingsley. The compelling tale, inspired by family lore and a one-page letter from the colonial ancestor of scriptwriter Jesse Gates, just might break her out of this career-crippling rut. Jesse would rather write about romance than live through it after his past relationship ended in disaster. But once on-set together, the chemistry between Jesse and his leading lady is hard to deny.

I loved this book. I loved the history of the civil war intertwined with present day. The characters both historical and present day were so in depth. One of the best listens in a long time.

Intrigue
Revisado: 06-27-24
I disliked the narrator as the male voice. I loved the storyline and the twists and turns in the book. The characters were very believable and interesting. I didn’t like that so many people died, though. Maybe a few could have lived.

I was in a funk reading all these other intense, murder mysteries. I wanted something light to read. This book was just that. The narrator did a great job.

Historia
Emma London never thought she had anything in common with her grandmother Genevieve London. The regal old woman came from wealthy and bluest-blood New England stock, but that didn't protect her from life's cruelest blows. Genevieve rose from the ashes of grief and built a fashion empire that was respected the world over, even when it meant neglecting her other son. When Emma's own mother died, her father abandoned her on his mother's doorstep. Genevieve took Emma in and reluctantly raised her - until Emma got pregnant her senior year of high school.

Disappointing
Revisado: 07-30-23
I’ve read all of Joanne Fluke’s mysteries. This one was very disappointing. I could hardly get through it with the reader and the voices she used for the different characters. But I decided to trudge on. I am glad I did, even though the storyline didn’t get better the ending is exciting. This book was a tough read or should I say listen.

This was such a good book to listen to. The narrator was excellent and the story line is a very familiar one but in this case the outcome was perfect. Loved it. Especially at Christmas time.

Entertaining
Revisado: 08-30-21
Even though this book was predictable, I loved it. Nora Robert’s is a great author. and She really allows the reader to know the characters really well. She goes in depth with them, which is necessary, I think, to the story. I’m wondering if there will be a sequel.

I almost quit listening to this book but decided to look at the reviews. One said to keep reading. So I did. I loved it, except for the cussing especially the over use of the F word. But the story was a good one.
