Historia
Eleven-year-old Amrie St. Pierre is catching tadpoles with her friend Finn O'Reilly when the Federal fleet first steams up the Mississippi River in the spring of 1862. With the surrender of New Orleans, Amrie's sleepy little village of St. Francisville - strategically located between the last river outposts of Vicksburg and Port Hudson - is now frighteningly vulnerable. As the roar of canons inches ever closer and food, shoes, and life-giving medicines become increasingly scarce, Amrie is forced to grow up fast.

There was no getting past the awful narration - I tried several times but still couldn’t keep it up.

The narration is so bad I couldn’t even finish chapter 1 while only half listening.

Historia
After the Final War, after the appearance of the Bug aliens and their enforced peace, Shining Smith is still alive, still doing business from the old scrapyard bequeathed to her by her father. But Shining is now something more than human. And the scrapyard is no longer just a scrapyard, but a place full of secrets. This life she has built, while empty, is predictable and safe. Until the only friend left from her previous life shows up, dead, in the back of a scrapped Tesla warplane. Clutched in her cold fingers is a note to Shining - warning her of a coming attack.

The narrator sucks. Storyline is good and will read the actual books to better enjoy the down time from care giving

Historia
Jamie Fraser knows from his time-traveling wife Claire that, no matter how unlikely it seems, America will win the Revolutionary War. But that truth offers little solace, since Jamie realizes he might find himself pointing a weapon directly at his own son - a young officer in the British army. And Jamie isn't the only one with a tormented soul - for Claire may know who wins the conflict, but she certainly doesn't know whether or not her beloved Jamie survives.

Wish the app worked to listen to it
Revisado: 04-04-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
the iPhone app sucks-makes listening more stressful than final exams. I don't have huge budget for data package to download so setting is wi fi only but pop up says to change data settings and blocks all other button use until acknowledged - this is not only frustrating while driving but dangerous.
even on wifi the books always fail to download without multiple attempts and app has to remain open for down load on iPad- so much for downloading in background while working on something else.
the sync position between iPhone and iPad doesn't even come close to points in listening
Who was your favorite character and why?
Love ALL the Characters
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Davina Porter?
No one!
Any additional comments?
FIX THE APPLE APP! It is so frustrating I don't even want to listen to my books anymore--the sync between devices is so far off base please don't even have it
