The narration made up for the ending
Revisado: 09-07-23
I absolutely loved this book, until the ending,
The narrator made it better. The book was solid, but the ending felt rushed, unfortunately.

Historia
Near an isolated mansion lies a beautiful garden. In this garden grow luscious flowers, shady trees...and a collection of precious “butterflies” - young women who have been kidnapped and intricately tattooed to resemble their namesakes. Overseeing it all is the Gardener, a brutal, twisted man obsessed with capturing and preserving his lovely specimens.

This is a wish version of the collector/kiss the girls
Revisado: 08-21-23
The performance for this was difficult with the female reader, and I gave it such a low rating because she whispered so often that I would have to turn my audio volume up to the 90s. She mumbled a lot which made me have to not listen on my normal 1.9 speed to a lower speed.
Now, the real crime here wasn’t the garden, it was this rip off (wish version) of the greats like the collector and kiss the girls. It’s like she read those books and thought “I could make this better by adding a 12 year old r@pe victim to it”…
It had cheap twists, that did not remotely make sense, relationships that did not exist until the end of the novel, and just over all fluff that was a general waste of time.
Skip it. Don’t hurt your soul like I did. I don’t want a refund on the book, I want a refund on the time I spent listening to this…

Not for me…
Revisado: 07-13-23
As a horror and mystery fan, this was neither horror nor mystery. Would recommend for kids but not for adults. The story was scattered and did not flow well. Ending felt rushed and unfinished. This type of writing would be better for short stories. I finished with more questions than I began with. This felt more like an fan fiction R L Stine book than a well developed horror novel

Great first start for Will Trent
Revisado: 02-17-23
Reading this I feel like she writes Will as an idiot. How the reader can get to the conclusion that Micheal is the killer before the “genius” Will Trent is beyond me. But overall a great read and will continue.

A good relaxing read.
Revisado: 08-17-19
***As always, I have to state that I was given this book for free in exchange for a review.
I never let the fact that I was given this book for free effect or sway my opinion in my review. My reviews are always my own opinion and thoughts on the books that I review.***
The characters are well-drawn and the story is wonderful. I could not resist the writing about the past and the protagonist's family. Family ties here are compelling as are ties of friendship. I will probably re-read it because I enjoyed it so much. Oh, and there is a touch of the supernatural too which makes it that much more fun!
There are plenty of feints, dead-ends, and red herrings throughout to keep the reader guessing while turning pages. Past & Present: A Marketville Mystery is a delightful blend of the cerebral, the psychic, and good ol’ down-to-earth sleuthing. The interesting cast of interactive characters and satisfying conclusion will leave the reader wanting to revisit Marketville time and again.
