I really enjoyed this book. I'm a dog lover, and my expectations were high for a novel from a dog's perspective. The narrator is, incredibly, credible as a dog once you get a bit into the book. The story is varied and interesting.

This is a rich, wonderful, deep immersion in meditation and being. It is beautifully narrated in a peaceful tone, with gentle, soothing background music. I have read nearly everything by Eckhart Tolle, Jon Kabat-Zin, Thich Nhat Hahn and Shinzen Young, and have been searching for the perfect implementation of their shared principles. This is the very best in guided meditation I have found. I have enjoyed Jon Kabat-Zin's guided mindfulness meditation, Shinzen Young's guided meditations, and the guided meditations of Meditation Oasis. This is, for me, deeper and more beautiful than any I have experienced. This is a program of two hours that contains several guided meditations, all of which complement one another, and all of which I plan to include in my daily meditations. At last I feel I can stop looking for the programmed meditation that I have been seeking. If you have been looking for a teacher or program for you meditation practice, this is certainly worth trying.

A can't say enough about how good this James Kaler is. His descriptions are so clear, so vivid, that listening to his "lectures" is more like watching a superbly narrated and vividly illustrated movie or video. As simply a demonstration of how interesting and enthusiastic a lecturer can be, this book/lecture is worth a listen. If you have any interest in astronomy, and the "wonders of the universe", this is it. It don't get 'no better!
I've gone on to research his books at Amazon, and they are uniformly highly reviewed. I just purchased his "Cambridge Encyclopedia of the Stars". He is better than the much more expensive lecture series I have watched from The Teaching Company on astronomy, which is given by Alex Filipenko of UC Berkeley, and that is excellent as well.

Excellent, but second best...

Jane Eyre is, for me, the greatest of all classic British literature. It is a remarkable gift to have such a magnificent novel read by such capable readers. While Juliet Stevenson does an excellent job, I find the older (and less expensive) version read by Lucy Scott to be as exceptional as the book itself. Stevenson has bit deeper a British accent, while Scott maintains a greater clarity of speech while creating an authentic English tone.

The Story of Edgar Sawtelle Audiolibro Por David Wroblewski arte de portada

This was the first book from Oprah's list which I have found very disappointing. Imagine a "B" student in a college English class who is required to write a lengthy book. This is about what you would get.

This is one of the best audio books I have ever read. Beautifully written, perfectly narrated in two voices, timely in its content (politically and economically). Oprah comes through again with a winner.

You can do better

I read many science books, and this is one of my least recommended. It is a very light and popular type of presentation, with a wildly exagerated title. You would do much better with anything by Brian Greene, especially The Fabric of the Cosmos.

An important book

Total

Revisado: 08-01-07

This is the most important book I have ever read. I come from a Judeo-Christian background, and am new to "enlightenment" and such ideas. However, from a purely psychological standpoint, this book is brilliant. The integration of what are unarguable truths about man's psychology with spirituality is lucid, but optional. Read this book. It will change your life, immediately, for the better. It will clarify many issues in your life, including relationships, as well as troublesome events in your past. If the world would read this book, there would be hope for the future of man. Hearing the audio in the voice of Eckhart Tolle adds to the book. It is a great, life changing book. Read it.
