How all the mysteries were intertwined and how short the chapters are. It made it very easy to listen to.
Revisado: 04-05-24
One can never go wrong with Mr. Patterson. The reader was lovely, the stories coherent and the characters well put together and fleshed out. I enjoyed the reimagining of Ms. Marple and Poe and even Holmes. I can hardly wait for another installment featuring the whole team. To include Baskerville, the kitty and their new office assistant.

Another Dale or Prebble!
Revisado: 11-15-22
Not since Jim Dale or Simon Prebble, have I heard such a great narrator. This performer reads with verve and delight, imparting depth to each character. The authors words and characters are completely animated with an understanding that puts this whole book right at the top of my favorites. It’s equal parts hilarious, creepy and mysterious . What a great pair these two make!

I did not want this trilogy to end. Vivian Shaw’s writing is so rich and descriptive and Suzannah Hampton’s reading so lovely that listening to the trilogy was like savoring a particularly fine meal. I wish it had never ended.

I’ll not spoil the plot, but I will say I throughly enjoyed this book. The author writes with great care and wonderful detail. The performance was as good as any Jim Dale reading. I’m eagerly anticipating the next in this series and will seek out more by both the author and reader.

Historia
Chief Inspector Armand Gamache of the Surêté du Québec and his team of investigators are called in to the scene of a suspicious death in a rural village south of Montreal. Jane Neal, a local fixture in the tiny hamlet of Three Pines, just north of the U.S. border, has been found dead in the woods. The locals are certain it’s a tragic hunting accident and nothing more, but Gamache smells something foul in these remote woods, and is soon certain that Jane Neal died at the hands of someone much more sinister than a careless bowhunter.

Interesting...
Revisado: 10-13-20
Whilst I enjoyed this book, I found the abrupt stops in the text to be jarring and annoying. It was not the reader, but the prose. The reader was lovely.
One last thought, to producers. Stop. Adding. Music. To beginnings and endings and between chapters. It adds nothing to these audio books. Nothing. The HP books by JKR are the ONLY audio books I’ve listened to that can get away with this. Please stop.

Historia
Since its rise to the highest ranks of power in Renaissance Europe, the Borgia family has developed a scandalous reputation. While they were indeed ostentatious, calculating, worldly, cruel - and even, occasionally, murderous - you may be surprised to find that the Borgias were not terribly different from other powerful and ambitious families of their day. So why has history set them apart as one of the most corrupt and reviled families in history?

Historia
Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump are the self-styled prince and princess of America. Their swift, gilded rise to extraordinary power in Donald Trump’s White House is unprecedented, unconstitutional, and dangerous. In Kushner, Inc., investigative journalist Vicky Ward digs beneath the myth the couple has created that depicts themselves as the voices of reason in an otherwise crazy presidency and reveals that Jared and Ivanka are not just the president’s chief enablers, they are, like him, disdainful of rules, of laws, and of ethics.

Editing is Your Friend
Revisado: 11-11-19
Overall, this was a well written account of the subjects, the Kushners. I didn’t expect any less from a Vanity Fair Contributor. However, as hard as the narrator tried, you cannot cover up terrible sound editing. The narrator has a nice reading voice, but the editing caused odd pauses and differences in volume and cheapened the quality of the read/listen. Please note the editing was the only issue I had with this book. Otherwise, I found it easy to listen to and the subject fascinating and informative.

Revisado: 06-26-18
When I heard the news of death, I went straight to my wish list and hit buy. I wasn’t disappointed. He’s irreverent, disdainful, obnoxious and humble by turns and humanity is a little less for having lost him too soon. Listen to it. You won’t be let down.

Listenable, because I knew how good the book was.
Revisado: 06-11-18
Brandon Mull is a favorite author in our house. That said, I could have done without all the dramatic music intros and outros. It’s a personal preference for any audio book to which I listen. That said, the narrator was... okay... he’s a bit “breathy” and high pitched and honestly, reminded me of a Teacher reading to preschoolers. They can’t all be Simon Prebble, but then again, Brandon Mull needs an American accented reader. Overall, listenable, but I kept thinking about how the narration and direction could’ve been improved. Otherwise, it’s a good, fun, wholesome and entertaining book. We need more of those.
