good idea poor execution
Revisado: 05-20-24
this series was written as if it was for not Preppers but more for young teenage girls. it reads like a contradiction of things over and over again quite frustrating at times could not finish.

Historia
From out of the clear blue sky, an unknown chunk of rock from the frozen void strikes the Earth with unimaginable force, gouging a wound into the very crust of the planet. Millions die in an instant, and millions more await the end as the looming catastrophe unfolds...Thousands of miles away from the disaster, a call comes in the middle of the night. Families act, and react, and while panic spreads, the world keeps on spinning. Maybe a little slower, and perhaps with a teeny bit more of a tilt, but such things are a mere trifle to the existence of a planet.

a mixed bag
Revisado: 11-10-22
I originally picked up this book because it wasn't the typical EMP disaster book which has become rather commonplace in this genre. . .
there was quite a bit of action which I enjoyed however it was interlaced with an awful lot of fluff. honestly you could have put all the good stuff into one book and called it quits. Instead This Book leaves you with yet another (fourth) book.

first of all I'd like to say that I don't like these types of books I won't say exactly what type because then there would be a spoiler however by the time I realized what type of book it was I was so enthroned in the book how well it was written and the characters I couldn't stop listening

overly simplistic plot, black and white situations. characters are very likable in particular Joe's grandma. very good for entertainment purposes as well as just good old-fashioned prepper porn. if you like this genre of books it is a must-have

Historia
Sometimes the worst storms aren't from Mother Nature, and sometimes the worst nightmares aren't the ones in our heads. Mike Mitchell, an average New Yorker already struggling to keep his family together, suddenly finds himself fighting just to keep them alive when an increasingly bizarre string of disasters starts appearing on the world's news networks. As both the real world and the cyber world come crashing down, bending perception and reality, a monster snowstorm cuts New York off from the world, turning it into a wintry tomb where nothing is what it seems.

feel good Kumbaya apocalyptic story
Revisado: 10-06-20
A decent premise for a apocalyptic book however filled with white guilt / White privilege mixed in with a healthy dose of man-made global warming with a big fat bow at the end wrapped up nice and neat with a happy little ending.

Historia
For America, the gun is a story of innovation, power, violence, character, and freedom. From the founding of the nation to the pioneering of the West, from the freeing of the slaves to the urbanization of the 20th century, our country has had a complex and lasting relationship with firearms. Now, in First Freedom, nationally syndicated columnist and veteran writer David Harsanyi explores the ways in which firearms have helped preserve our religious, economic, and cultural institutions for more than two centuries.

Historia
Laurence Gonzales turns his talent for gripping narrative, knowledge of the way our minds and bodies work, and bottomless curiosity about the world to the topic of how we can best use the lessons of our evolutionary history to overcome the hazards of everyday life. He finds that natural laws profoundly affect our actions, and he reveals the hidden causes and costs of our behavior, whether as individuals or as a species whose decisions may be leading to darker times.

very little
Revisado: 07-04-19
This is a well written story of the author's upbringing and life experiences, however reads more like a autobiography not as the synopsis states. Only the first 3 chapters deal with the title and synopsis of the book the rest is well written filler that is not about the stated theme. Here is my synopsis: man made global warming and western consumerism is killing us all but all the while making it all possible for he and us to make and consume this book.
So Sip a latte and lesson to how we are all circling the drain in comfort for some and penury for others.... oh and cognitive dissonance is writing brain scripts that we follow that helped evolved us to the state we are but are now holding us back.
The End

Historia
The Perfect Weapon is the startling inside story of how the rise of cyberweapons transformed geopolitics like nothing since the invention of the atomic bomb. Cheap to acquire, easy to deny, and usable for a variety of malicious purposes, cyber is now the weapon of choice for democracies, dictators, and terrorists. Two presidents - Bush and Obama - drew first blood with Operation Olympic Games, which used malicious code to blow up Iran’s nuclear centrifuges, and yet America proved remarkably unprepared when its own weapons were stolen from its arsenal.

mix of information and propaganda
Revisado: 06-14-19
Yet another hack for the liberal ideology. mixes some useful information with outright left-wing liberal Obama focused sycophancy. Writer makes claims about what Obama was "feeling" and "Wished for". This is NOT a book on just facts that are known or can be reasonably surmised. This reads more like a screenplay for a movie. Much of the writing about the 2016 elections are written like the writer was present in high level and secret meetings. (doubtful at best) Some of the facts/claims made by the writer have been contradicted with the release of the Mueller report!!
I was as a person that is in the tech field was hoping this book would shed some light on the topic of our government's understanding of hacking instead this book is mostly propaganda (democrats=good, Trump=stupid/bad) and if it were not such an important topic would be mildly entertaining.

Historia
The culture of “safety” and its intolerance of opposing viewpoints has left many young people anxious and unprepared for adult life. Lukianoff and Haidt offer a comprehensive set of reforms that will strengthen young people and institutions, allowing us all to reap the benefits of diversity, including viewpoint diversity. This is a book for anyone who is confused by what’s happening on college campuses today, or has children, or is concerned about the growing inability of Americans to live and work and cooperate across party lines.
