Historia
At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. The story is told by Cyril’s son Danny, as he and his older sister, the brilliantly acerbic and self-assured Maeve, are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Very enjoyable book. The narration is wonderful. All-in-all, a very good read for almost any age. Slight cussing, but aside from that, pretty clean

Historia
Haller is a Lincoln Lawyer, a criminal defense pro who operates out of the backseat of his Lincoln Town Car, to defend clients at the bottom of the legal food chain. Historia
An off-duty Coast Guardsman is fishing with his family when he calls in some suspicious behavior from a nearby boat. It's a snazzy craft, slick and outfitted with extra horsepower, and is zipping along until it slows to pick up a surfaced diver...a diver who was apparently alone, without his own boat, in the middle of the ocean. None of it makes sense unless there's something hinky going on, and his hunch is proved right when all three Guardsmen who come out to investigate are shot and killed.

John Sandford's acclaimed Prey novels featuring the brilliant Lucas Davenport have plunged millions of readers into the darkest recesses of the criminal mind. Now Lucas has met his match. His newest nemesis is more intelligent, more deadly, than any he has tracked before: a kidnapper, a violator, and a cruel, wanton killer who knows more about mind games than Lucas himself.

Good story, narration needs a little work
Revisado: 01-15-23
Richard Ferrone has a great narrator's voice. I am listening to the series in order. The long breaks, even not at a chapter's end, have become a little frustrating. The breaks seem to be getting longer. The story is good and it is worth a listen. I tried speeding it up a bit but did not care for it. Overall worth the time

Historia
We are in a small room with the vampire, face to face, as he speaks--as he pours out the hypnotic, shocking, moving, and erotically charged confessions of his first two hundred years as one of the living dead. . . He speaks quietly, plainly, even gently . . . carrying us back to the night when he departed human existence as heir--young, romantic, cultivated--to a great Louisiana plantation, and was inducted by the radiant and sinister Lestat into the other, the "endless," life....

The story is not my fave...
Revisado: 05-19-18
I found the narrator to be good...I just was not into this story as much, Perhaps I digress and prefer the Cullen family to dark vampires who hate themselves and need to sleep in coffins. I found it to be a downer...a friend who recommended it loved the book...there are interesting parts but IMHO, there is enough grief in the world and this was too dark and foreboding for my taste.

Love, love, love this audiobook. I don't know if I would have enjoyed it as much if I had read it...Nicholas Guy Smith has such a command of the language and appears to not have any problem at all with pronouncing rather difficult Russian names, etc. I was getting kind of sad toward the end because of just that...it was ending...
