Cecily bravely shows her vulnerability in this book.
Revisado: 06-05-24
I love that she expresses what so many of us felt during the pandemic. It was very eye opening (in a good way) to hear from a renowned comic genius that they go through the struggles too and still move forward.
I’m a life long fan of SNL and always enjoy getting to know the people behind the magic more. Cecily opens up in an honest and vulnerable way that takes great bravery.
The only downside side is more on Audibles part than Cecily- as her book came up when I typed in “comedy”so I was expecting it to be lighter. Bad Audible! However Cecily displays her comic skills in still bringing laughs when we/she needs it most. Thank you!

Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Fantastic commitment by the voices!
Revisado: 05-27-24
This brought to life a work that was centuries ahead of its time! It’s sooo much better than any movie of its title and such a bonus to have some of my favorite actors voicing key players!! If previously thought Dr Stewart such a dry but necessary piece to the story- but with Alan Cummings at the voice- he’s now my favorite character!!

It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Even with its gut wrenching truths, this book is a delight to listen too. I thoroughly enjoy the way Prince Harry broke down his chapters and shared his humor as if they were each a memory that marked on his time line.

Incredibly endearing, honest, raw & Charming!
Revisado: 01-01-23
How one can take such agonizing life experience and still be charming and open is a very rare gift on top of Matthew’s extraordinary ability to stay alive! I could not put this one down. I made excuses to drive in the car or clean things I knew my family wouldn’t go near so I could listen uninterrupted. Had this been narrated by anyone other than Matt himself- it wouldn’t work. Thank you for not only being so open with your life, but being vulnerable enough to share it with us- I hope you know- if we ever meet- you’re getting hugged.
This is a Must listen/read for anyone who has ever lived with, near, or around addiction of any kind. It’s also for anyone who thinks HOPE is overrated. Or even if you were just a casual “Friends” fan- that makes the book and the show even more fascinating! (full disclosure- I know every episode by heart and still find more joy every time I watch an episode- thanks for that too Matt!!).
But this book- I’ll be listening multiple times !!

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Gripping, compelling-real
Revisado: 07-04-22
Not only did I enjoy the performance, but I kept looking for other opportunities to continue listening. The voices and in inflection were well done and not over worked. Easy to follow character to character. The story has ripped my heart out from the first page but had offered glimmers of hope and reality. I’m sad I finished it already- but was desperate to do so- before someone ruined it for me (movie trailers). Worth it!!

I really enjoyed this narration, as the orator excelled at capturing different voices without sounding cartoonish. He did a great job of keeping his characters straight making it very easy to follow and kept me entertained on my drives! The story was a great reimagining Of the flip side of the “Alice” we grew up with…well done all around!!

Surrender, white people! After 400 years of white supremacy in America, a reckoning is here. Time to listen up, look history in the face, and surrender unjust privilege. These are the terms of peace - and they are unconditional. Hope you have a sense of humor, because this is going to sting. The legendary activist/comedian and author of the “hilarious yet soul-shaking” (Black Enterprise) best seller How Not to Get Shot returns to address a nation on the edge of civil war.

This is a MUST listen- especially for White People
Revisado: 04-18-22
I’ve always enjoyed DL’s delivery and inflection, but Now I can say I am a huge fan. He’s nailed so many extremely important and overlooked points in this book that you’d have to clinically brain dead to not hear them. Many of the historical references I shamefully admit I knew a little about- but not nearly enough. Having grown up under White Privilege and in predominantly white schools- there were always questions I had about certain Historic events- but never looked further into my own questions thoroughly enough. DL has brought forth the history we ALL need to acknowledge and remember and learn from in a masterful serious book- with just the right balance of humor and sarcasm to keep it real.
Please expect my piece of paper in the mail soon sir!
Yes! I surrender (gladly)!!

Historia
Before Liz Lemon, before Weekend Update, before Sarah Palin, Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: A recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live. Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've always suspected: You're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Literally kept me laughing out loud while driving 8 hours through an Alaskan Blizzard.
Revisado: 03-11-22
As a long time SNL fan and a HUGE fan of Tina’s wit and intellect- this was exactly what I’d hoped for. She kept me laughing hard enough that I no longer felt sleepy while driving through a Winter Storm Warning. Had it not been for delivery of this great book, I would probably have developed road rage on the 4 cars going 30mph for over 100 miles through Alaskan mountain ranges. Thank you!! thank you!!! Thank you!! Not only did I not commit road rage- It kept me laughing through my husbands snoring- which also can induce Rage. BUY THIS BOOK!!

Revisado: 05-23-21
Keegan brings the background of Sketch to life for those of us that love it, but did t know the origin! This review applies to the whole series! His passion fir the topic comes off as pure joy and not remotely preachy! He made me smirk at a 3 Stooges reenactment, and I have NEVER enjoyed the Stooges! Comedy lovers you f and old should definitely dl this series! It made doing my household/garden chores 100x better! Thank you Keegan, Elle and team! I have already recommended it to several people.
