An awesome 90s throwback crime drama!

I loved this book. Very entertaining to listen to, and mainly because it reads as such a visual, cinematic story — can’t wait to see the movie (someone in the indie film world needs to pick this up)!!

Right from the start, the story has a raw and gritty indie feel, with characters that you love to love and hate. Especially the villains, Lee and Amber; absolutely ruthless but you can’t wait to get back to any chapter that might involve them!

My favorite part is the ending, which I won’t ruin for you, but really took me back to some of the old spaghetti westerns that I grew up on. I know, I keep going back to films as a reference, and it’s just because the author is such a visual story teller. Very much enjoyed this!

Educational and Entertaining

This was a fun read/listen. It was not quite what I was expecting, but in a good way. I expected the story to be one of survival after the main character gets plunged into a wilderness where he barely knew how to survive. Instead, it ended up being multiple stories of survival as our young protagonist grew from someone who hated the very idea of even taking a hike in the wilderness into a thriving mountain man who is fascinated with the idea of surviving in the wilderness and experiencing all that nature has to offer.

The quality of the recording was a little distracting at times, being able to hear hisses and clicks that could have been mastered out, but it was overall clean enough to enjoy the experience.

Without spoiling anything, this young man in the story undergoes an amazing transformation, which in and of itself makes the story worth seeing through to the end. As the title of my review suggests, the story was entertaining in an educational sort of way, which I mean to say in the most complementary way; the author clearly did his research to bring a high level of authenticity to the tale. If you like wilderness survival stories, you will enjoy this one.

I very much enjoyed this original! I kind of stumbled across it, and I am glad I did. It was super fun, in an over-the-top-but-in-a-very-good-way kind of way, lol. Recommend

Everything it should have been!

You would expect some amazing action by this point in the series... and this installation delivers! Not only is the action everything it should be, but the depth of the relationships between the characters is even more than I was ready for; really elevated the final battle to a level I did not expect! so good!!

Can't spoil the ending... but I really want to!

Love this book! Very good story. Very good narration. I want sure where this first part was heading, and most of it is a set up for what I now know will be a fantastic series! Once I realized where this was heading, and then it was confirmed in the final moments... So good!! cannot wait to see where this series goes!
