Historia
John F. Kennedy died half a century ago - yet because of his extraordinary promise and untimely death, his star still resonates strongly. On the anniversary of his assassination, celebrated political scientist and analyst Larry J. Sabato - himself a teenager in the early 1960s and inspired by JFK and his presidency - explores the fascinating and powerful influence he has had over five decades on the media, the general public, and especially on each of his nine presidential successors.

If You Read One Book On JFK - Pick This One
Revisado: 06-19-16
This is by far the best book on the topic I have listened to. The assassination has been well documented in many other books but this one in particular examines how JFK's legacy has affected politics and American society since 1963.
I would highly recommend this book!

Any additional comments?
Basically it is 3 hours of "Lean and Six Sigma are so awesome" over and over and over. Never puts any context to it what-so-ever. Keep your money. There are much better books out there.

Where did the time go?

After having read over 50 audio books, this is the best one yet. The 13 hours flew by. I listened to this book while making my 4 hour daily commute to work and when I arrived at my destination, it felt like I had only been on the road for 5 minutes. I could have easily listened for another 13 hours. Such an interesting account of an incredible man. It definitely sold me on electric cars and solar technology.

Paul Robert digs down to the economic roots of the problem, shows how it has metastisized to affect every facet of our lives and our ability to navigate the future. In clear, cogent prose that mixes illuminating analysis and vibrant reporting, Roberts not only tells the fascinating story of how the impulse society came to be, but shows how, perhaps, a healthier society may still be possible.

Scary but true

This is one of the best books I have listened to in a long time. While it is rather heavy on economic theory, the author does a marvelous job at detailing the rise in "cut-throat" corporate culture and how the individual "me" society is leading to the systematic dismantling of our stable middle-class economy.

Historia
Governments today in both Europe and the United States have succeeded in casting government spending as reckless wastefulness that has made the economy worse. In contrast, they have advanced a policy of draconian budget cuts - austerity - to solve the financial crisis. We are told that we have all lived beyond our means and now need to tighten our belts. This view conveniently forgets where all that debt came from. Not from an orgy of government spending, but as the direct result of bailing out, recapitalizing, and adding liquidity to the broken banking system.

Every politician needs to read this book
Revisado: 08-07-15
Any additional comments?
This book explains the history of economic austerity and how it has never worked and why it will never work. The author uses in-depth and sometimes complicated economic rationale to explain why but I think that is what lends so much legitimacy to his argument. I will admit it is not for the feeble minded but it is also not so complicated that the average concerned person can’t understand.
He gives the reader a complete analysis of why public spending cuts never lead to economic growth and typically fuel rising debt instead of lowering it. He further details how the global financial crisis is really a private crisis of the banking sector and not a problem of public spending run amok. It is glaringly obvious that governments have allowed the finance industry to needlessly gamble and in many cases, have been forced to bail them out with public money.
This book allowed me to finally understand the real reasons behind the European debt crisis and how much of it extends from several structural flaws in the Euro. I have read a number of books on the 2008/2009 financial crisis and I would say this is the best one yet. This really brought everything together for me as it really gets to the "why" behind a lot of the problems we see today.
I like his analysis of Iceland at the end and I wish he had written much more on the topic. My only complaint is that the author quotes a number of economic theorists and sometimes it is hard to determine if he is still talking about their opinion or his own.
Every politician should read this book and understand how cuts to public spending almost never produce the desired economic growth.

Good Book bad narrator
Revisado: 07-09-15
The content of the book was surprisingly thorough. The author builds on some actual psychological research although he doesn't always explicitly state it. He does give some good and usable tips. The only issue is that he narrates it as well. He generally sounds like an 18 year old kid talking slang with his buddies. The audio also has some weird sounds scattered throughout. If a different narrator had of read this book I would have given it 4 stars across the board.

Reading This Book Will Extend Your Life. Literally
Revisado: 06-28-15
Any additional comments?
I have read dozens of audio books on Audible and hundreds are hard copy books. This is the best book I have ever read. Period. I literally went to Amazon.com and ordered several hard copies to be shipped to my family and friends. I have dabbled in the Keto diet on and off and this finally made everything click. This book is extremely well written and easy to understand and the author's theories are backed up by a lot of scientific research and studies. If you don't want to die of a degenerative brain disorder than you will need to read this book.
