Narrator Rupert Degas returns to create another suspense-filled performance of Authors Susan Rogers and John Roosen’s latest outing featuring solicitor and yoga instructor Elaina Williams and photojournalist Ric Peters.

When Dr. Edward Williams, Elaina’s father, goes missing under suspicious circumstances, Elaina knows something is amiss. She asks her boyfriend Ric Peters to help her look into the disappearance. A sinister conspiracy of international consequences unfolds as the pair ruthlessly look for the clues. The case takes them across several locations of Australia’s golden coastline and further to Brisbane, Queensland. With time running out for Edward, they must hurry.

Authors Susan Rogers and John Roosen have created a winding story of sinister secrets, lies, and intrigue that extends far beyond one missing person. The narrative ricochets between the tense crime investigation and human drama as Elaina and Ric work together to unravel the truth behind Elaina’s father’s disappearance.

Elaina’s mental anguish over her father’s disappearance is convincing, and her steadfast determination to uncover the conspiracy makes her a winning protagonist. Ric acts as an endearing counterpart to Elaina. The romance between the couple is convincing.

Rupert Degas perfectly delivers the urgency of the story’s drama. His narration pairs well with the authors’ taut plotting. He builds tension with subtle changes in tone and rhythm, deftly differentiating the large cast of characters: some new, some old, some good, some devious, all of whom move the story along at a steady pace. Cozy mystery buffs should snatch it up.

Ring’s second installment in the Urquhart & MacDonald Murder Mysteries puts the newlyweds against a shrewd killer.

Jimmy Urquhart and Sandy MacDonald are enjoying the last leg of their honeymoon trip at Clyburn Castle, Dr. Grandage’s new hotel twenty miles up the coast from Barrachois. But a disastrous spring storm cuts the hotel off the world. Soon, bodies begin to pile up, leaving the pair with nothing but their skill to solve the killings.

The story begins on a slow note: Ring takes his time building the character and the setting, but once Jimmy and Notepad arrive and settle in, the narrative turns into a page-turning story of intrigue, dangerous secrets, and murder.

Ring’s voice provides the perfect mix of mounting tension and suspense as the story moves forward. His characterization is excellent: he expertly portrays the skeptical Jimmy and the fiercely independent Notepad. All this paired with taut pacing and relentless twists spirals into a perfect locked-room mystery that listeners will relish.

Authors, Susan Rogers and John Roosen’s, debut installment in the Yoga Mat Mysteries series is a baffling mystery with a memorable lead and exotic setting.

Elaina Williams is content teaching yoga at her newly-opened yoga school. But when one of her students, Mario Vincente, dies suddenly during the class, Elaina is plagued with guilt. The reason: Mario urgently wanted to talk to Elaina before his death. She unites with her another student Ric and begins to look into Mario’s personal life.
