Historia
It is the autumn of 1880, and Dr. John Watson has just returned from Afghanistan. Badly injured and desperate to forget a nightmarish expedition that left him doubting his sanity, Watson is close to destitution when he meets the extraordinary Sherlock Holmes, who is investigating a series of deaths in the Shadwell district of London. Several bodies have been found, the victims appearing to have starved to death over the course of several weeks, and yet they were reported alive and well mere days before.

Mixes Two Classics Well
Revisado: 06-05-24
I really liked this book, enough I moved straight to the next book. I think it mixes Lovecraft horrors and Sherlock well. Sherlock and Watson feel and sound exactly like you want them to, and their approach to the supernatural feels true to character. I found myself listening for longer periods of time to get more of the story. If you like Cthulhu horrors and you like mysteries or Sherlock, definitely do not sleep on this book and give it a shot.

Cannot Recommend it Enough 100/10
Revisado: 06-05-24
Absolutely cannot recommend it enough. It does a nice mix of like 1940's meets fantasy, and one doesn't overpower the other. the writing is excellent, the story is phenomenal, I fell in love with the characters. This little found family was just so wonderful. I loved the magic in this book and how it worked. Even if you're not a big fantasy lover, I think this is still a wonderful book worth reading. It's such a great book.

Historia
Adam Binder has the Sight. It’s a power that runs in his bloodline: the ability to see beyond this world and into another, a realm of magic populated by elves, gnomes, and spirits of every kind. Years after his brother Bobby had him committed to a psych ward, Adam is ready to come to grips with who he is, to live his life on his terms, to find love, and maybe even use his magic to do some good. Hoping to track down his missing father, Adam follows a trail of cursed artifacts to Denver, only to discover that an ancient and horrifying spirit has taken possession of Bobby’s wife.

Surprisingly Phenomenal 10/10
Revisado: 06-05-24
It's a nice change of pace fantasy setting wise. And I genuinely enjoyed it. Banged it out in a day and immediately started the rest of the series. It was the right amount of dark while still having comedic moments. Ardent was my favorite character then Vic. The romance was nice and I was delighted that it wasn't made a joke of in the book. The title drew me in and I stayed for the wonderful story and surprisingly well fleshed out characters. Definitely one I would buy a physical copy of.

Historia
Thanks to a series of unfortunate events - and one backstabbing frenemy - home is exactly where I'm headed. Back to Winterspell Lake, where magic runs rampant and humans are outlawed. Faster than you can say hocus pocus I'm unpacking my bags and settling into the guest room of my parents' house, trying to ignore the creeping sensation that I'll never break free again. The one thing Winterspell has going for it is the sweets shop in the center of town, a bakery filled with magical creations designed to enchant the taste buds and charm even the pickiest of connoisseurs.

Lighthearted and Refreshing Fantasy
Revisado: 04-30-24
If you read big/thick fantasy books and series this is a very nice change of pace to have between those big series. It's lighthearted and does a nice job of blending modern times with magical so you still keep that fantasy element to it. It's a quick read too which also is nice, and as much as I love spicy fantasy, this is also free of spice which isn't a bad thing. I enjoyed it and look forward to the rest of the series.

Very Enjoyable, Can't Wait for the Next One!
Revisado: 01-04-24
I genuinely liked this book. our two main characters were fun and side characters were nice. overall I was engaged and always wanted to keep listening. the book had a sort of cozy feel to it in terms of I felt like I wanted to curl up by a fire and keep reading. the story itself kept me present in the book and I found myself wanting to know more and more about the world itself and it's history.

Historia
What's tasty, good for you, and only takes 60 seconds to make? Oatmeal. And because of a strange reaction to the Yeerk's physiology, it's making the would-be invaders of Earth more than a little crazy. Now Rachel and the other Animorphs have a new weapon against the Yeerks. Sounds good, right? Wrong. Because using this advantage against the Yeerks has dire consequences for their human hosts. In order to avoid hurting innocent people, the Animorphs will have to make another trip to the Yeerk pool, where they barely escaped with their lives.

Everyone should read Animorphs
Revisado: 01-05-23
Animorphs is SUCH a good series and I think young or old everyone should read it. it tackles challenging topics and has a great story and the characters are complex with faults and strengths. they feel human. and the audiobooks are great! the voice actors they've chosen for the books do an amazing job of drawing you in even further.
