The author narrated the book about her relationship to Buddhism through the story of early childhood to publishing Tricycle magazines, shining lights on people who were involved with the burgeoning movement. I loved the history of the Buddhist movement in America, and the author's personal stories about her connection to the teachers and friends who were pivotal in opening the door to this path.

I was swept away listening to this emotional book. Swept to a terrible time in our country's history of owning people. The story is rich with characters charting a way to freedom through the Underground Railroad and using an ancestral magic water passage. The narrator was outstanding, speaking the men and women's characters with superb discerning voices.

I was happy to see this book on Audible. I love this series by Alan Bradley. Glad he's continuing to write about this precocious young sleuth solving murders with her chemistry prowess. Delightfull. The narrator is superb.

A superb book about residents in a seaside town in England following WWI. The story is dazzling in conveying the social and cultural norms of the times before women's equal standing in the country through the lens of some swashbuckling women operating a motorcycle taxi service. There are many subplots with both conformists and nonconformists adapting to changing times in the early 20th century. The narrator is excellent, able to voice discerning characters uniquely. I didn't want this book to read.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Ivan Doig was a wonderful American writer. This lovely tale of a young boy experiencing an extraordinary summer was Doig's last book before he recently died. David Aaron Baker should win an award for this book's narration. The voices he put to the characters were suberb. I was very sad when this book ended but thankfully there are a lot of other books that Doig left us to savor and relish.

Where does A Gentleman in Moscow rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Beautifully plotted story, unique characters all set in one building in Russia. Couldn't put it down. Please Mr. Towles ~ stop doing book tours AND write more books.

Would you listen to A Man Called Ove again? Why?

The book tells the story of a curmudgeon not happy being alive following the death of his wife. The author has an innovative and appealing way to tell the story of how Ove's neighbors change Ove's outlook on life.

Any additional comments?

The narrative was perfect for reading this story. Really good voice inflections.

What about Robert Bathurst’s performance did you like?

There have been many comments about the new narrator's performance and I for one, thought he was terrific. Often, I find a British accent difficult to understand but Bathurst's voice is clear and articulate.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I thought it was an exciting who done it. Many nail biting moments (where I stayed in car to listen).

Any additional comments?

I liked the plot very much and as always the quirky characters in Twin Pines. Looking forward to the next book!
