Historia
When The Sandman, also known as Lord Morpheus - the immortal king of dreams, stories and the imagination - is pulled from his realm and imprisoned on Earth by a nefarious cult, he languishes for decades before finally escaping. Once free, he must retrieve the three “tools” that will restore his power and help him to rebuild his dominion, which has deteriorated in his absence.

Sets a very high bar
Revisado: 09-23-21
As famous as Neil is for his novels it kind of saddened me that most readers did not know of his classic run as the writer for the Sandman comic book by DC comics, which I consider a masterwork of the genre. When I heard they were doing an audio adaption I didn't know if such a thing could be pulled off based on the fact that comics is such a visual medium. Having listened to it and now getting ready to listen the second volume I can say without a doubt this adaption is perfection. It's obvious that Neil himself was heavily involved in the production of this and his prose (and narration) is flawless. If you any kind of Neil Gaiman fan, buy, listen and enjoy.

Classic Sword and Soul!
Revisado: 02-28-20
Really enjoyed the story of Shange and Mijoga, the star crossed lovers living their punishment from the gods together in East Africa. Without giving any spoilers away, we get to see them interact with one of Davis' most popular characters in one chapter. Definitely has that old school Sword and Sorcery vibe that I've loved way back in the Daw books era in the 70s and 80s with real hand to hand combat and interesting magic. Looking forward to seeing the Author's other works brought to audio as well.

Historia
With his now-legendary store on 125th Street in Harlem, Dapper Dan pioneered high-end streetwear in the 1980s, remixing classic luxury-brand logos into his own innovative, glamorous designs. But before he reinvented haute couture, he was a hungry boy with holes in his shoes, a teen who daringly gambled drug dealers out of their money, and a young man in a prison cell who found nourishment in books. In this remarkable memoir, he tells his full story for the first time.

An autobiography of New York style Hustle
Revisado: 10-21-19
It wasn't until a few weeks ago I even heard of Dapper Dan though growing up myself in New York of the early 80s I am familiar with his work. His boutique clothed many of the up and coming rappers at the birth of Hip Hop. Beyond that is a story of hustle and grind even when the odds are stacked against you. Dapper Dan is creative and innovative and entrepreneurial. Great book for future business leaders

Revisado: 02-11-18
This is my first book by Mr
John but I'll definitely be catching up on his Power of Broke as well. This book is one part inspirational, another part practical example, and another part behind the scenes insight into the world of shark tank. I have listened to the audible version of the book alone and am now currently listening to it again, now with my wife on a long road trip. We are both loving it.

Short but packed a punch. It's the inspirational and insightful story of one man's journey toward 100 rejections and the lessons he learned. One of the better self-help books out there. Consolidated a bunch of things I've kind of known in a addition to new insight into things I didn't.

Historia
Conrad Nomikos has a long, rich personal history that he'd rather not talk about. And as arts commissioner, he's been given a job he'd rather not do. Escorting an alien grandee on a guided tour of the shattered remains of Earth is not something he relishes - especially since it is apparent that this places him at the center of high-level intrigue that has some bearing on the future of Earth itself.

More about the journey than destination
Revisado: 08-09-16
The overall plot is a little weak I admit, meaning the trope from the time of the book's first publishing is a little threadbare. Zelazny's ending surprised me though. However, The prose is pure Zelazny and by that I mean pure poetry. The words of Zelazny makes the journey worth the price of the ticket. I've read it once, but didn't really appreciate it until I heard Victor Bevine's fine narration. Moving.

An amazing survey of Silicon Valley and startups
Revisado: 04-20-16
In a time when many technologists that I've come across are losing their desire to work at startups. Peter Thiel give an excellent and opinionated list of what it takes to make a great company. Filled with social, economic and historical insight, it's a treasure trove of valuable insights. I'd love to read this again in a few years to see how it holds up over time. If you ever thought about becoming a part of a startup, read this book.

Historia
In a pulls-no-punches essay intended to provoke rational discussion, Stephen King sets down his thoughts about gun violence in America. Anger and grief in the wake of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School are palpable in this urgent piece of writing, but no less remarkable are King's keen thoughtfulness and composure as he explores the contours of the gun-control issue and constructs his argument for what can and should be done.

Another incredible series to raise a glass to
Revisado: 10-15-12
Elric of Melnibone is not easy to classify even within Fantasy. This is high fantasy with an edge. It's a dark tale but not without humor. It has some of the standard Sword and Sorcery elements but it reads more like literature than a swashbuckling tale. Moorcock doesn't write stories , he writes fictional histories. I've read and loved his books before so I was a little nervous about how this audiobook would sound. The narrator did a great job of delivering the material. Michael Moorcock himself gives us a brief preface that is fun to listen to but I was grateful when the real narrator started talking. One more thing, this what they called an "audio plus" book. It has music and small sound effects in the background at some portions of the tale. I found they matched the scenes they were used in perfectly. A well polished audiobook.
