I have always been a HUGE fan of MM for many reasons. I THOUGHT his Academy Award speech sealed the deal on Best Actor. But, this book was so much better. Sometimes raw (lots of F-bombs and not kid friendly) but truly authentic... just as I would have expected. I admire his love of Camilla and family. I enjoyed laughing at his antics and secretly wished I had taken more chances. I reflected a lot on my own part 50+ years. i pondered his bumper stickers and lessons. And, I have renewed my vow to "Just Keep Living" but maybe I need to live with a little more fun. 😉

Not JUST about depression

I thought I was reading a book about depression to help my loved ones. And, I did. It was, however, about so much more. The research. the stories, and the way they are interwoven is genius. Everyone should read this book. Every doctor. Every depressed person. Every pastor. Every person who wants to know how do do life better. I just finished the audio version but I am buying the book and listening in conjunction to get the nuggets I missed before.
Get this book! (He has a great voice too!)

Interesting and sad book

I enjoyed the story but wish some of the audio had been adjusted so it was equal throughout. I kept having to turn my volume up and down.
Sad to think of how one man's actions effected so many people.

I wasn't sure about this when I picked it but it was actually really good to listen to. Easy to discern which voices were which character. The story was easy to follow. Could have used a few more twists. 😉 I would definitely listen to something produced by this troup again.

Captivating story made better by amazing narration

It took me some time to get into the book but once it had my attention, I couldn't stop listening. The author has exquisite use of words and phrases. the story is heartbreaking but captivating. I can't imagine any other narrator. His voice was perfect. Highly recommend.

This made me smile as the author painted great pictures throughout. I could see Ove in each situation and he often reminded me of my father. Life is filled with interesting people and Ove is one of those aggravating people you learn to love.

What did you love best about Gone Girl?
The story really surprised me at the end. It left me thinking after I finished the book. I thought I had guessed pretty well on chapter 1...and I had until the twist.
What did you like best about this story?
Each chapter added great elements that really added to the story. The last, very short chapter, made me laugh.
What does Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
GREAT reading by both. Some of the best of the audio books I have listened to so far.

I hated the constant use of the F-word. So much that if I hadn't paid for this book, I might have discontinued listening to it.
