Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother's coffin as the world watched in sorrow - and horror. As Diana, Princess of Wales, was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be thinking and feeling - and how their lives would play out from that point on. For Harry, this is that story at last.

A Masterpiece in Selective Remembering
Revisado: 05-15-23
Reading this book aroused two distinctively opposing feelings within me: that of utter delight in reading all about the intimate details of a senior royal while, feeling shameful for paying money to listen to a piece of propaganda by a traitor who is trying to defend his undefendable wife. Another overwhelming feeling is that in order to justify all the things he and his wife had done, he chose to only remember the bad and not the good in his life, leaving out many gaps in his personal history, and omitting context to prove a point, while vilifying his family members.
Having said that, it is a very well written book. Harry has a nice voice and the ghost writer has manage to make some parts of the story poetic and profound. I would suggest just read it to understand how Harry feels, and some tidbits of royal gossip but not take too much of it as fact. There is a lot of spin in the book, trying to use Princess Diana's name to gain public sympathies for his wife, the more he does that, the more evil he is. Using and tarnishing his own mother's name to make his wife look good. Meghan is Wallis Simpson, if one much compare her to any wives in the royal family.
The funny thing is that everything said about Prince William in this book was intended to make him look bad, however, for me at the very least, feel that Prince William's actions and words reflected the collective consiouness of the public in how we actually feel about Harry (we all want to punch Harry a little). So in the end, Prince William comes off as a sensible, insightful and strong brother while Harry comes off as someone who is under the spell of his self-serving wife while thinking he is the hero, but in fact he has betrayed his own family and country.
This book should be named Traitor, not Spare.

Historia
Imagine a 1980s world of sumptuous hotel rooms, restaurants, New York City penthouses, and the powerful men who move easily between these pinnacles of luxury. They are music producers, rock stars, writers, and restaurateurs. They are household names like Billy Joel, Art Garfunkel, Eric Clapton, and Sting. And yet, each man has an entire aspect to his life that he doesn’t talk about publicly—his depression, his rocky marriage, his feelings of shame and failure, his private loss of faith. And now: The phone rings. Imagine the woman who has each of these men at her beck and call.

Riveting!
Revisado: 05-07-22
Love everything about this! It's satisfies the eavesdropper in me, and love to hear how a woman seduces all these men. The dialogue and voices are so amazing. If only there is an Oscar for voice acting, the whole cast would win!

Historia
Emily Ratajkowski is an acclaimed model and actress, an engaged political progressive, a formidable entrepreneur, a global social media phenomenon and, now, a writer. Rocketing to world fame at age 21, Ratajkowski sparked both praise and furor with the provocative display of her body as an unapologetic statement of feminist empowerment. My Body is a profoundly personal exploration of feminism, sexuality and power, of men's treatment of women and women's rationalizations for accepting that treatment.

Interesting Angle for a Celebrity Memoire
Revisado: 11-22-21
I watched Emily over a few days of heavy promotion on the late night TV show circuit and Fashion channels, and also read an excerpt on The Guardian before I ordered this on here. I find the themes quite relevant for me as a woman and also saw this an interesting way of writing a memoire for a celebrity. The publishers and Emily smartly combined relevant gender issues/politics, the exposé and celebrity memoire to capture the zeitgeist. Indeed, it is already a best seller.
There are some juicy details regarding famous models and billionaires. However, I like that it 'appears' to be so honest, which makes Emily's story resonant with so many women including myself. It made me feel not alone and that life is complex and not like what the media or marketing or your parents like you to believe how binary life is.
I must note that Emily's reading or performance is sometimes not easy to listen to because she mumbles and can be monotone. Perhaps it is better to read it as a book.

Historia
A disturbing tale of a young man's uncanny ability to remain both young and beautiful while descending into a life of heartless debauchery, The Picture of Dorian Gray was considered proof of both Wilde's genius and his perversion. Oscar Wilde's scandalous best seller of 1891 was one of the most damning pieces of evidence used against him in the trial that brought about his downfall.

Narration not so good
Revisado: 07-17-21
Bad pronunciation, bad accents, and bad voice acting, quite bad...... I'm seven chapters in, the only thing keeping me going is the story and Wilde's wit. Thank god it's free with my subscription or I would be quite annoyed with wasting a monthly credit on this.

Historia
Kafka Tamura runs away from home at 15, under the shadow of his father's dark prophesy. The ageing Nakata, tracker of lost cats, who never recovered from a bizarre childhood affliction, finds his pleasantly simplified life suddenly turned upside down. As their parallel odysseys unravel, cats converse with people, fish tumble from the sky, a ghost-like pimp deploys a Hegel-spouting girl of the night, a forest harbours soldiers apparently un-aged since World War II.

Best Narration
Revisado: 07-13-21
The voices and acting is so good! It captures the atmosphere and suspect the narrators made the book even more interesting. This is my first audio book, when I first click on sample, I was hooked by the memorising voice of Kafka, and used my credit immediately. I think there were parts of the books that would be a little slow without the narrators, and I feel the narrators brought the characters to life (especially for the characters Nakata and Hoshino). I don't think I would be able to finish this book reading it on my own (I have very short attention span, not easy for me to stay engaged for books that are longer than around 350 pages). So thank you Audible, and the entire cast of voices! I can 'read' long books now with your help and So glad I get to experience a literary work like Kafka on the Shore!
