Historia
On August 5, 1949, a crew of 15 of the United States Forest Service's elite airborne firefighters, the Smokejumpers, stepped into the sky above a remote forest fire in the Montana wilderness. Two hours after their jump, all but three of these men were dead or mortally burned. Haunted by these deaths for 40 years, Norman Maclean puts back together the scattered pieces of the Mann Gulch tragedy.

The in depth, technical analysis Arthur Maclean writes to explain a forest, grass fire.
Revisado: 02-20-24
While i admire the Arthurs immense attention to detail and science, I struggled following page after page of measuring, hiking, and inspection of the site of the fire. I’m glad to know the tragedy, the dying of young fire fighters, but need to admit that at some point I stopped reading and skipped to the last chapter.

Historia
In this brilliant book, Isabel Wilkerson gives us a masterful portrait of an unseen phenomenon in America as she explores, through an immersive, deeply researched narrative and stories about real people, how America today and throughout its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings. Beautifully written, original, and revealing, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents is an eye-opening story of people and history, and a reexamination of what lies under the surface of ordinary lives and of American life today.

Challenging read
Revisado: 09-05-22
This subject, Caste, reading the truth, is painful and very angering, because the demeaning treatment of Blacks, continues, Sadder is that while reading this must read, the abuse continues. There is a need in the Human Condition to suppress another race, color, ethnicity in order to feel good about ourself and a fear the “other” will rise and be superior to us, dictate to we white as we have dictated to the Black and other minorities.

Historia
When he was just 23, a recent graduate of Stanford University, Richard Engel set off to Cairo with $2,000 and dreams of being a reporter. Shortly thereafter he was working freelance for Arab news sources and got a call that a busload of Italian tourists were massacred at a Cairo museum. This was his first view of the carnage the years would pile on. Over two decades Engel has been under fire, blown out of hotel beds, taken hostage. He has watched Mubarak and Morsi in Egypt arrested and condemned, reported from Jerusalem, been through the Lebanese war.

Terrible. Not close to a intelligible book review. I want my $$$ back.
Revisado: 05-09-22
I was shocked at how poor this this production was. This is not up to the quality I have consistently experience with Audible. The warnings at the beginning about misuse were so harsh and crude I expected someone to jump out of my cell phone to threaten me with a gun if I did not OBEY. please refund my $$$$.

Historia
Every day, we hear of relationships failing and questions of whether humans are meant to be monogamous. Love Sense presents new scientific evidence that tells us that humans are meant to mate for life. Dr. Johnson explains that romantic love is an attachment bond, just like that between mother and child, and shows us how to develop our "love sense" - our ability to develop long-lasting relationships. Love is not the least bit illogical or random, but actually an ordered and wise recipe for survival.

#1 Relationship Author on the Planet
Revisado: 01-07-20
Sue Johnson’s philosophy and content are superior. Hands down the best practical advice and philosophy for thriving, loving, and passionate romantic and all relationships. The audio read is a bit slow and for me too much of the science behind the philosophy and practice. Regardless, overall superior information. I would love to see from Sue a simple “how to” handbook, summary with how to action plans.
