Historia
Lydia is dead. But they don't know this yet.… So begins the story in this exquisite debut novel about a Chinese American family living in a small town in 1970s Ohio. Lydia is the favorite child of Marilyn and James Lee; their middle daughter, a girl who inherited her mother's bright blue eyes and her father's jet-black hair. Her parents are determined that Lydia will fulfill the dreams they were unable to pursue When Lydia's body is found in the local lake, the delicate balancing act that has been keeping the Lee family together tumbles into chaos.

Predictable story / irritating narration
Revisado: 07-20-18
The storyline was cliche and predictable and often went to too much effort to be overly dramatic. It could have been salvaged somewhat, however, by a less irritating narrator. The narrator seemed to go out of her way to insert “dramatic” pauses and inflections where there was clearly no need for them. One got the impression she just liked the sound of her own voice and is a frustrated wanna-be actress or something.

Great ride, but weak ending
Revisado: 08-29-17
I gave the book 4 stars because the story itself was so good and so full of intrigue. The plot is interesting and I was drawn in from the very beginning. I enjoyed the narration and thought it was very well done. I did not give the book 5 stars because I felt the story deserved a much more interesting ending. There is no resolve, only a fizzling out. That is too bad after such an epic journey to get there!

Historia
Tate's younger brother Indy is probably the best skateboarder in Spokane. He's also really smart though he couldn't care less about school. But when Indy clashes with his father one too many times and drops out of school, it's up to Tate to win his brother back from the seedier elements of Spokane. Can Tate convince Indy to come home, finish his high school degree, and return to skating under the bridge with their crew?

Great Book
Revisado: 04-04-15
Under the Bridge was well-written and believable. The bond between the brothers- especially Tate's big-brother protectiveness over Indy - is palpable. It was well-narrated.
