Wonderful historical fiction
Revisado: 03-04-23
Love that the author based alot of the characters on real people and that she was able to weave in historical records into the story without boring you with the facts.
Love the narrators and the pace of the book, overall a good book and I recommend anyone who like historical fiction to get this book

Good book horrible narration edit
Revisado: 02-25-22
This is a good book and the narration is fine EXCEPT that I can literally hear all the noises a mouth makes when speaking and I find that extremely annoying. Poor editing on this book, should have filtered out those noises

Historia
When Elizabeth Keane returns to Ireland after her mother’s death, she’s focused only on saying goodbye to that dark and dismal part of her life. Her childhood home is packed solid with useless junk, her mother’s presence already fading. But within this mess, she discovers a small stash of letters — and ultimately, the truth. Forty years earlier, a young woman stumbles from a remote stone house, the night quiet except for the constant wind that encircles her as she hurries deeper into the darkness away from the cliffs and the sea.

Interesting twist
Revisado: 02-03-22
I listened to Graham’s book and immediately love his narration. Story jumps back and forth between the past and present which can be confusing when pausing the book for extended periods of time. Overall I thought it was a well written story with lots of people with quirky things about them or places. Love that twist to the story.

Revisado: 01-31-19
This book started off slow and I stopped listening to it a few times but after I finally started it back up and the story progressed I found that I couldn’t stop listening. I listen while I’m at work and there for several days where I was sorry I had to stop because I was done work for the day.
The only thing I’m really going to say without giving any real details is that the twist in this book I did not see coming and what a twist it is!
Do yourself a favor and take the time to listen to this book, you won’t regret it at all!

Meredith and Nina Whitson are as different as sisters can be. One stayed at home to raise her children and manage the family apple orchard; the other followed a dream and traveled the world to become a famous photojournalist. But when their beloved father falls ill, Meredith and Nina find themselves together again, standing alongside their cold, disapproving mother, Anya, who even now, offers no comfort to her daughters.

Amazing
Revisado: 01-17-19
I was hesitant at first about this book but after having finished it I am very happy with my choice. I love this kind of story, I’m a history nerd at heart and this just was perfect for me.
Listening to what the families had to endure during the war was fascinating to me.
I would highly recommend this book to any history nerds like myself.
I loved the voices the narrator used for each character especially the mother. Also she did an excellent job at reading this book, sometimes narrations and the pronunciation can be terrible but that’s not the case with this one.

Revisado: 12-15-18
I had always liked Michelle Obama while she was in the White House but after listening to her story, I have a new found appreciation for her. She seems to have found that balance in life that all working Moms strive to find. She set her priorities and stuck to them which isn’t always the easiest thing to do.
This book has made me want to listen to other books about/by First Ladies. Thank you Michelle for your wonderful book
