Historia
After a bizarre and disturbing incident at the funeral of matriarch Marian Savage, the McCray and Savage families look forward to a restful and relaxing summer at Beldame, on Alabama's Gulf Coast, where three Victorian houses loom over the shimmering beach. Two of the houses are habitable, while the third is slowly and mysteriously being buried beneath an enormous dune of blindingly white sand. But though long uninhabited, the third house is not empty. Inside, something deadly lies in wait.

Chapter 26 at the 02:02 Mark
Revisado: 03-29-19
I first got interested in this author after listening to the Blackwater saga. McDowell really has a talent for creating rich characters who are the most southern southerners you’ve ever seen and it’s just captivating. The Elementals did not disappoint and I actually think the plot was a bit better than Blackwater in that there was more explanation about the strange happenings in the 3rd house. Whereas in Blackwater I felt like the why was never thoroughly explained. McDowell in my opinion creates the most eccentric and interesting female characters I’ve ever seen. Hence, the reason I named this review chapter 26 02:02 mark. The dialogue in the story keeps you captivated and entertained but Big Barbara’s drunken rant regarding her shady husband is hilarious and the narrator is one of the best I’ve ever heard. This tale is scarier than Blackwater which in my opinion wasn’t scary at all. In fact it was so creepy I couldn’t listen to it when home alone. Wonderful!

Sketchy Characters Unite
Revisado: 05-22-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this book because it has a cast of characters to die for as well as stories within stories that ALL come together for a great ending.
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Confederacy of Dunces?
There are so many I can't think of just one
What about Barrett Whitener’s performance did you like?
The narrator's versatile range is so skillful. He has the ability to be perfectly proper with the best diction possible and then switch to the most broken down unskillful use of the english language ever heard or imagined.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book made me laugh multiple times, its just hysterical.

A Man's World
Revisado: 05-22-16
Where does Salvage the Bones rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I would say that this book ranks in the top 10 of audiobooks I have listened to so far.
What did you like best about this story?
The relationship between China and Skeetah was truly unique and as heartwarming as it was destructive to a degree. That Skeetah could really love China seems ridiculous considering he puts her in dog fights. However, this is where the flaws of culture and upbringing come into play.
What about Cherise Boothe’s performance did you like?
Able to do distinct voices and really bring each character to life
Who was the most memorable character of Salvage the Bones and why?
Skeetah was most memorable because of his dynamic with China that inadvertently isolates him from the rest of the family in a way. The relationship between these two is almost at an obsessive level that is unhealthy. However, as an animal lover I totally get the relationship (minus the dog-fighting).
Any additional comments?
Wonderful climactic ending! This book brought back some memories of dynamics from my childhood, and I really felt the characters acceptance of their lot on life was a realistic view even though it was depressing.

Historia
Jack Torrance's new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel, he'll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. But as the harsh winter weather sets in, the idyllic location feels ever more remote...and more sinister. And the only one to notice the strange and terrible forces gathering around the Overlook is Danny Torrance, a uniquely gifted five-year-old.

The Movie Pulled Me In--The Book Got Me Obssessed
Revisado: 05-22-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, because as other reviewers have mentioned its not just a good book/scary story--it's a piece of literature. Yes it's that good.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Dick Halloran was my favorite character because he shed alot of light on Danny's special abilities and really allowed the reader/listener to understand why the shining is a simultaneous gift and curse and the implications for Danny's future. Dick Halloran's character was also very believable, deep, and likable.
Which scene was your favorite?
I'm not sure there was a favorite scene so much as a favorite part of the book. My favorite part of the book was Dick Halloran's race against time and slim odds to reach the Torrance's before it was too late.
Who was the most memorable character of The Shining and why?
The most memorable character beside's Danny who is the obvious choice since the book focuses on him is Jack Torrance. Mainly because in the book he isn't all bad, he is really fighting to do the right thing but he is doomed by his upbringing and vices. There is just no escape.
Any additional comments?
Narrator was wonderful! I loved how the voice of Tony was performed...like a distance dreamlike voice calling from some far away void.

Historia
The Buckmaster Gallery is staging another Derwatt exhibition, but now an American collector claims that the expensive masterpiece he bought three years ago is a fake. It is, of course, and he wants to talk to Derwatt, but Derwatt, inconveniently, is dead. Ripley needs the perfect solution to keep his role in the fraud a secret and his reputation clean, but not everyone's nerves are as steady as his. Especially when it comes to murder.

Would you try another book from Patricia Highsmith and/or Kevin Kenerly?
Yes because I love Tom Ripley
Would you recommend Ripley Underground to your friends? Why or why not?
Only to get the last book
Which scene was your favorite?
When Tom followed Bernard after Bernard thought he was dead. Pretty funny.
Do you think Ripley Underground needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
It does have a follow up. Ripley's Game.

Historia
In this first novel, we are introduced to suave, handsome Tom Ripley: a young striver, newly arrived in the heady world of Manhattan in the 1950s. A product of a broken home, branded a "sissy" by his dismissive Aunt Dottie, Ripley becomes enamored of the moneyed world of his new friend, Dickie Greenleaf. This fondness turns obsessive when Ripley is sent to Italy to bring back his libertine pal, but he grows enraged by Dickie's ambivalent feelings for Marge, a charming American dilettante.

Revisado: 05-07-16
Would you listen to The Talented Mr. Ripley again? Why?
Yes, the narrator is intoxicating
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Talented Mr. Ripley?
Mr. Ripley's true thoughts about Marge were hilarious to me
Have you listened to any of Kevin Kenerly’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No I wouldn't have wanted to listen to it in one sitting because there are alot of details about Ripley's scams and it is a little too much information and becomes boring.
Any additional comments?
Love Tom Ripley's character. I started off with the movie many many years ago and always loved it. Finally read the book and don't regret it. Never knew it was a trilogy.

The Technical Framework
Revisado: 05-07-16
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes, just to get to the last book in the trilogy
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The whole concept of robots with imprinted personalities of the real counterparts was fascinating to me.
Which character – as performed by R. C. Bray – was your favorite?
Lord Mantel, John Hunt, Princess Lamatie
Was Fear the Survivors worth the listening time?
Yes but only to get to the next book, it was way way way way way too technical and detailed to the point where I was bored. I'm hopeful for the trilogy since the first book was so good. I'm hoping the 2nd book was just a means to an end in establishing the 3rd book.

Historia
From the Audie-nominated narrator of The Martian. In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out.

Devil is in the details
Revisado: 05-07-16
What made the experience of listening to Fear the Sky the most enjoyable?
The details and plot development are unbelievable. The author must have one of the most sophisticated imaginations of our time to have come up with this stuff.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Lord Mantel, John Hunt, Iyana and Madeline were my favorite characters. They were all strong and unique in their characters. I was really fascinated with the robots.
Have you listened to any of R.C. Bray’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No this is my first time listening to him narrate
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
