Revisado: 11-10-23
I was looking for something supernatural. the writers and producers did a masterful job or spinning a web.
performance was top notch.
performances were top notch.
no spoilers here, but the post epilogue interview explains the writes background. that said there are heavy heavy doses or certain style of content that turned me off.
I stopped being entertained and started to feel preached to. That content may be real and relevant. but I felt the synopsis could be more forward. in a different or place this is 5 star for me. had there been .more episodes I may have tabled this.

After discovering just how filled with magic, intrigue, and adventure the parahuman world of being an Undead American can be, Fredrick Frankford Fletcher did exactly what was expected - he became a certified parahuman accountant. Myths and legends, as it turns out, are not so great at taking appropriate deductions and keeping their receipts, and Fred is more than happy to return to a life others view as woefully dull, expanding his accounting business to cater to various monsters and their respective financial needs.

overall being into book two of this series I would still give two thumbs up.
The performances are great the audio effects and special effects are fantastic.
I even like the story lines. there's a little too much love interest it seems to detract for me personally.
no spoilers from me in this review.
story flows well from book 1, as does character development.
My only honest drawback right now is that a couple of the voice performers I'm tiring a little of their vocal mannerisms. as such a put-the-book down for a while
I will go into book three with an open mind to see how it turns out

Revisado: 09-24-23
I have no prior experience with this author or the performers. I selected this book merely based on the fact that audible thought I might like it.
boy were they right!
a great and engaging story. excellent performances. a highly entertaining and thoroughly satisfying listen.
I already have other Drew Hayes books in my wish list. I don't know if they're all this good but I'm willing to try and find out because this book was awesome

I will give two big thumbs up on the stories themselves.
there are two primary narrators doing the performances. Technically the performances are top notch. However I continually found myself getting perturbed and bored with one of the narrator's. to the extent I didn't even want to finish the book .
it's a personal preference thing, but I think I will pay attention and avoid future books being performed by one of the two of them.
Good even Great stories. technical production is very good. 13hr left and I am contemplating skipping and remaining stories read by one narrator.

A+ performance , poor character portrayal
Revisado: 04-11-23
Sound effects and performances were too notch A+ and arguably the book can stand on the production.
The story itself was also entertaining.
My issue is with Dr. Watson.
He is portrayed as a bumbling dolt and fool. it is almost infuriating. I can look past Sherlock's superiority complex, but Watson. practically ruins the book for me.
Great performances and production. Story was even engaging . Disappointing depiction of Watson.

Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

I am not familiar with the author. audible suggested this to me, and for whatever reason, there was no cost to me.
Loved that it took place in Chicago.
but was really surprised at what "Dispatched" meant.
This story seriously left me wanting more.
I highly recommend this.
Can't wait to start the next in the series..

Audible recommended this. I went into it blind with zero expectations. OMG! a grand slam.
It took me a few minutes to orient to the style (no spoilers here). but they I was caught hook, line, and sinker.
The performances were superb.
The story was awesome.
I've already recommended this to others.
the only drawback. it was over to soon. I sure hope there are more Audible originals like this.
The sound and tech was nearly the best I've ever experienced.
two thumbs way up

Revisado: 01-24-23
Loved the first book Engaging. kept me hooked and wanting more.
Liked but did not love the second book. that book seemed to lose focus and direction for me. My expectations were higher.
Expectations were not set going into 3rd book. I was prepared for full continuation of a story and for numerous short stories. For me, unlike the 2nd book, there was continuity. A little confused by the ending.
Performances and tech production were excellent. Top notch

In the absolutely packed Act II, the dark fantasy resumes and the Sandman expands into the French Revolution, ancient Rome, 19th-century San Francisco, eighth-century Baghdad, and beyond. New and familiar characters abound, voiced by a bright mix of performers, including Kat Dennings, Regé-Jean Page, Emma Corrin, Michael Sheen, Kristen Schaal, Brian Cox, John Lithgow, Jeffrey Wright, and so many more, including fan-favorite narrators Simon Vance and Ray Porter.

Does the sequel deliver?
Revisado: 01-10-23
I loved the first book. A great and engaging story. This book started off as a sequel, a continuation of the story. But then it stopped. I turned 8nto a series of stand alone short stories.
perhaps the nature of comics these days. it was not expected. The stories were ok, but I felt like I want more Morpheus.
The sound quality was A+
The performances was A+
my reason for less than 5 stars was the short stories at the end.
Lastly - these two books have really got me hating Cain. I hope Able gets his due in the 3rd book.

the story was great, IMHO.
it was slow building at the start, but it had me making time to get through it.
It would probably make an awesome movie!
