Ok, but nothing to write home about…
Revisado: 03-30-25
…Not even in times of Massanger-Apps.
The Story is very predictable. The first part is well written but the further it progresses the more it only works off known tropes and off the protagonists not bering the sharpest spoons in the drawer.
Ok for a listening in the background but not for anything more.
The narrator does a good job though.

And now it is gone
Revisado: 07-30-17
Would you recommend The Night Eternal to your friends? Why or why not?
Just because it is the conclusion of the trilogy.
The big problem is, that the trilogy started off with a brilliant an new take on vampires. A viral (or actually parasitic disease) that infects and turns people. Cool.
But now it turned into the "it all was some archangel, and god was angry" old story.
In one statement: "The trilogy ended as boring as it startet brilliantly."
Did The Night Eternal inspire you to do anything?

That's what Darth Bane is talking about!
Revisado: 12-21-15
If you could sum up Star Wars: Darth Plagueis in three words, what would they be?
Rise to Power
What did you like best about this story?
It characterises Darth Plagueis and Sidious. Through explaining the fears, ambitions and plans of the one it gives us insight in mind and character of the other. Although, or perhaps because Plagueis is a mere supporting role in his own novel, we learn much about the true protagonist: Palpatine. More than any other Star Wars novel I know this one reveals the nature of the Sith. The striving for power that does not tolerate being second in line. Not even when it comes to beeing second character in another ones story.

Historia
On the planet Tython, the ancient Je’daii order was founded. And at the feet of its wise Masters, Lanoree Brock learned the mysteries and methods of the Force - and found her calling as one of its most powerful disciples. But as strongly as the Force flowed within Lanoree and her parents, it remained absent in her brother, who grew to despise and shun the Je’daii, and whose training in its ancient ways ended in tragedy. Now, from her solitary life as a Ranger keeping order across the galaxy, Lanoree has been summoned by the Je’daii Council on a matter of utmost urgency.

Quite enjoyable despite various plot holes
Revisado: 10-16-15
Would you try another book from Tim Lebbon and/or January LaVoy?
No, since this one shoes too many inconstancies and contradictions. It does neither have the Star Wars feeling about it most other novels share, nor does the author show great regard for his own setting or Star Wars lore.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
First of all the author should have kept the humans plus one alien race. He stages his story in a pre hyperspace era. So why is the Tython System then populated by races from every corner of the galaxy species that are only discovered 20 Millenia after the story takes place.Additionally it would have been nice to get a feeling for the ideas behind the Jedi Order. From this book I only got some not very conclusive and often contradictory pieces of Information.
Did January LaVoy do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
The characters are quite well rounded. Especially the protagonist, in her often almost Sith-like behavior, shows an interesting contrast to the Jedi and their philosophy in later eras.
Any additional comments?
All in all I would recommend the novel only to people with the ability to ignore plot holes the size of an average gas giant. If you one of those how ever you will find a interesting novel with some interesting Information about the heritage of the old Jedi order.
