Really? Do you care about the legacy or is this just $$?
Revisado: 05-26-23
So stupid. I feel dumb for buying this. I love the idea of carrying on the legacy but don’t you authors feel a bit duty-bound to put out something that matters? That even tips it’s hat to the history of Clancy?!! This feels like it was written by a bunch of MBA’s who were given the Sumer Intern job of pressing on with Jack Ryan.
Apologies but this is so frustrating to watch. AI could have done better.

Historia
Greg LeMond stunned the sporting world by becoming the first American to win the Tour de France in 1986, defeating French cycling legend Bernard Hinault. Nine months later, LeMond lay in a hospital bed, his career as a bicycle racer seemingly over. And yet, barely two years after this crisis, LeMond mounted a comeback. In 1989, he once again won the Tour - by a narrow margin of eight seconds. It remains the closest Tour de France in history. The Comeback chronicles the life of this great American athlete, from his roots in Nevada and California to the heights of global fame.

Great serious - this one has too much “product placement”
Revisado: 05-21-20
Really great series. He’s an established force now and I look forward to his other books. Would hope he’d chill it a bit with the product placement. Are these favors or paid advertisements? They come off that way rather than authentic.
But—nonetheless—great series worth the $ and time.

Historia
Deep below the University, there is a dark place. Few people know of it: a broken web of ancient passageways and abandoned rooms. A young woman lives there, tucked among the sprawling tunnels of the Underthing, snug in the heart of this forgotten place. Her name is Auri, and she is full of mysteries. The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a brief, bittersweet glimpse of Auri’s life, a small adventure all her own. At once joyous and haunting, this story offers a chance to see the world through Auri’s eyes.

What on earth is this?
Revisado: 08-26-19
I really like this authors’ books. I’ve invested the cover price and something like 90 hours on his other wonderful works.
But this book — not so good. After the book is over the author spends a good 10 minutes telling you that he knows the book isn’t good but, literally, “f@@@ people like you”. Literally.
I mean, I get it that a successful author wants to be self indulgent at some point. Or avant-garde. And I appreciate both of those things; or don’t mind them. I admire him enough I’d enjoy getting to know all the many messages he has for the audience. His art. But that’s not the problem with this book — that’s not the issue — the author worries it is and takes the time to defend it the end of the book. The problem with the book is that there is no ‘Rosetta Stone’. It makes no sense. The inanimate objects all have personalities and the main character understands them and protects/serves them — we’ve all seen enough Disney to not be bothered by or even actually enjoy that. What’s missing is sense. It makes no sense. You’re not given any guidebooks to help you make the translation that allows you to enjoy (or understand) the story.
This author is gifted, clever, a powerful storyteller and extremely creative.
This book misses the mark. And the frustrating thing is this book may be as memorable and enjoyable as his other books — if he took the time to help you understand the the behind ... the framework and structure ... the perspective he’s using to tell the story.
Not worth the $ or time. And, I know you’re just making a point but being told to “fu” by the you, the author who is living off the money we spend; it doesn’t sit well.

An unnecessary and uninspired dig at Cash
Revisado: 03-06-19
In what turns out to be a love letter to a career convict Cash and his wife took in and set on the path to success—but later has to distance themselves from—this book reads like a hidden (and weak) attack on Johnny Cash. Uninspired. Weak evidence and logic. It was a maddening “read” given that it was sold as a reveal about the Folsom Prison album. Disappointing.

Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

Gay soft core porn - would like to have been warned

Not my thing so not happy with the intense emphasis on pubescent gay sex. Would have liked to know that was the focus of the book rather than how it’s described by the publisher.

A bit over the top
Revisado: 10-04-18
By now I’d expect these books to be getting better and better. While promising he’s just lacking the talent of the masters of this genre. I had the feeling he was writing this boom to get one out — or to play off the idea of his kernel of an idea about China — but it doesn’t endear you more to Dewey, doesn’t make you want to read the next book. It feels lazy.

Really good idea - had a perspective changing moment
Revisado: 10-02-18
The idea on the book is incredible and perspective-altering. You’ll pay for the book in the first chapter.
The actual instructions are too hard to understand in audio form. I was completely lost as to any information for executing the key idea.
But, again, the key idea was very helpful and I’ll take it with me through my life.
