Look I liked it....

I listen to so many books, I found that I needed to start writing reviews more for myself to read in the future, so that when the next books in a series come out I can determine if Id like to keep listening to them.
I'm going to label this one as a 'continue reading'... I am invested in the story, but I do feel ilke it is WAY too long. I realize there are a bunch of story lines that David is trying to write out, and include in the books, but man, there were quite a few times I thought about putting it down and just stopping because the story didnt feel like it was going anywhere.

Honestly the prologues were better than the story in the book for me :)

Disappointing to say the least....

Let me just say that Nick Podehl, as usual, is fantastic. Nothing on his part reflects on my rather negative review of this book.

I enjoyed the first 2 books in this series enough to grab this one. The story, for me at least, was just super slow, kinda boring, and very hard to follow. Dawn is a sword, right...and kind of a 'person' I guess. Well, she is also super whiny, and her little tiff with Keras (sp?) lasted most of the book. That was probably one of the dumbest parts of this whole thing TBH.

The magic, attunements, and other various fighting and defensive techniques are super hard to keep track of. He is constantly putting together things to make other things, and sucking magic out of xyz....it just gets a little mundane. Part of me wishes there was just more traditional fighting and swordplay happening, with a bit of magic maybe helping out (but not like 100 phantom slices flowing through the air being magnetically drawn to his body of iron blah blah blah....)

I dunno...just didnt like it I guess...I listened to it, but it will probably be the last one.

I have been looking for a new series for a while...my only regret is that I/we have to wait for more. This book has it all...interesting characters, awesome universe, and cool technology/magic. Is it a bit predictable, sure. But the damn dialogue and book is so well written and narrated that its a fun and very easy listen.

I am not sure what to say here...its just a great story. Awesome combo of character development and action. I really do like the magic he created, as there are many facets of it throughout the story. Cant wait to listen to the next ones.

This book was awesome. I have never so easily picked right back up on a story as I have with this particular series. Kudo's to Sanderson for being able to handle so many projects, and do them so well. This was superb for a number of reasons, but I think the best part was that Sanderson took this 'off-world' and expanded the universe within this series a bit. This keeps it super interesting IMO, and the introduction of the new species was the icing on the cake. I wont ruin anything, but this is possibly the best 'second' book Ive ever read.
