A fascinating listen. Great Production.

This one is just how I like my audiobooks. First off, the narrator does a good performance given the unique subject matter. The material is very accurate from what I have heard in my studies. I too would like to have an accompanied PDF just to help organize the material visually, add that and it would get 5 stars for sure. This was just what I was looking for in a collection. Thanks

Still my favorite reading of one of my favorites

many, many, years ago I discovered this reading on Librivox and have listened to it many times. Mr.Neureld's reading is still my favorite out of all the readings I have heard. He give a very stately performance as it deserves. I'm glad it is available on Audible so now I can ad book marks and find quotes easier. Well worth the price and a must have for young readers who want to learn the fundamentals of higher thought.

I was introduced to McManus through a friend who was doing a Bible study at his church on The Barbarian Way. He told me it would be right up my alley since I love books about warrior philosophy and such. Since then I read that book many times and is covered in highlights and underlines. I was looking for a new book to get into and remembered how much I enjoyed reading McManus and found this one. Got the audio book and quickly ordered the hardbound book because again I need to take lots of notes. I highly recommend this book too.

10th Anniversary is Great!

Very helpful in spotting the leadership skills in people and yourself. short 3 hours but well spent. judging by the lack of leadership in our youth I also had my teenage kids read this since it was very clear and practical.

Don't put a label on him so quickly!

I have been a fan Dr. West for many years now and was glad to find this book on audible read by West himself. I like that he keeps a motivating twist on things and points to love over nihilism that our culture keeps finding its self in. I like that he does not fit into the two party system but is NOT a socialist either. Yes he did promote Obama but also chastised him after he fell short after his election. He really cares for people and preaches non violence like his mentors did. If you get a chance listen to his speeches on YouTube first.

Epic storytelling BUT...

Would you listen to Dune again? Why?

I will definitely listen to it again because the story has so many interesting layers to it's story. I would not mind continuing to the next in the series.

What other book might you compare Dune to and why?

I normally don't listen to fiction but I enjoy sci-fi movies and Dune is a classic in the genre.

What aspect of the narrators’s performance would you have changed?

The performances are great BUT it bounces from one narrator reading all parts to a theatrical type with multi readers then back to single narrator then back. They should have stuck to one or the other. It is very distracting. I don't know why but Scott Brick is narrating in half my library. I wish he was the main narrator in this one. He has a certain creepiness in his voice that fits this story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It is an epic tale and could not be completed in one sitting. The story has a great flow so you look forward to the next listening.

Any additional comments?

I found myself looking deeper into Herbert's universe online and learning the timeline of the back story and characters. I like philosophy, religious studies, social structures, and this book has it all.

I was pleased to hear the 30th anniversary commentary... in the appendix of the book. in the book it is in the beginning. here it is the last chapter. enjoyed the reader in all three books.
