Would be better as a movie
Revisado: 11-27-24
The ending is pretty good as is the narrator. Otherwise the story just plods along and barely held my attention. It was hard to care what happened to characters as unlikeable as these.

Quick engaging read
Revisado: 03-20-24
This is a solid YA thriller/mystery. It gives enough clues to figure out a general idea of what's going on but still managed to surprise me in some ways. The main characters are both likeable and well voiced by the readers.

A passable easy listen, not too exciting
Revisado: 12-22-23
If you've read enough thrillers you will see most of the twists coming, but it was good for a quick listen to occupy my brain while doing some tedious work. The majority of the book does spend a lot of time on information that ultimately was not at all useful, bogging down the clues to what's going on.

Historia
Dr. Emory Charbonneau, a pediatrician and marathon runner, disappears on a mountain road in North Carolina. By the time her husband Jeff, miffed over a recent argument, reports her missing, the trail has grown cold. Literally. Fog and ice encapsulate the mountainous wilderness and paralyze the search for her. While police suspect Jeff of "instant divorce," Emory, suffering from an unexplained head injury, regains consciousness and finds herself the captive of a man whose violent past is so dark that he won't even tell her his name.

Brain junk food
Revisado: 09-24-18
This is a very silly, generally dumb listen. You will immediately suspect the eventual villian. There are some highly stereotypical thugs that weren't interesting from the start who long outstay their welcome. The "twist" surrounding the love interest's past is one of the stupidest things I've ever read.
However, for brain junk food it at least held my attention. Had me laughing at some of the silliness. The sex scenes were just meh. If it's this bad and I still managed to finish it, it at least deserves 2 stars.
