What did I leave from Disney's book?
* You can always figure it out!
* Dream big!
* Take risks
* Follow your excitement
* Fire people fast!
* Be detail-oriented
* Have high standards
* The money can be figured out!
* Don't settle for less than your vision, even if you are down!
* A creative career can work!
* He paid his employees well!
* He asked a lot of his employees
* He kept dreaming bigger
* He followed his intention. Most of the "business" decisions he made did not make financial sense
* His brother did the finances, not Walt!
* Walt was not business savvy!
* For a lot of his career, Walt's goal was not to make money. He used the money as a way to increase quality, and fulfill his vision.
* Walt made a LOT of bad business decisions, yet he still became successful.
* Walt worked extremely long hours. He made his team do the same.
* Walt focused on cartoons which were high leverage
* Walt did not have a well-organized company. It was all really messy, yet he still made it work!
* Walt went through a lot of ups and downs in business, with the lows being really low!
* Walt created the persona of Walt, which he got tired of.
* Walt fell in love with trains. Trains led to building trains. Building trains led to him taking building seriously. Building trains seriously led him to get interested in building little machines that could mimic people. Machines that mimic people led to him wanting to create a mini city replica called "Disneylandia" which led to the theme parks. It's weird how it all connects. Follow your passion!
* He took a risk with animation and went all in

Although the book has pixar stories, I felt like it could have added so many more…
I truly enjoyed learning about the brain trust meetings and getting a glimpse into how the movies are made… i felt like the creative side of things could have been explored more.
I guess that’s what I was expecting.
There’s a part at the end of the book that makes some good points about inclusivity, but some felt like it was forcing the idea of inclusivity too hard.
I definitely had some good takeaways, but was expecting to love it more.
It wouldn’t be the first book on management I would recommend.
