Historia
Augustus Everett is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. January Andrews writes best-selling romance. When she pens a happily ever after, he kills off his entire cast. They’re polar opposites. In fact, the only thing they have in common is that for the next three months, they're living in neighboring beach houses, broke, and bogged down with writer's block.

Very Uplifting
Revisado: 03-24-23
I think this book was written for people who are wanting to conceive, and haven’t been able to yet, but I think it applies to so many other women. I was looking for a book to give me encouragement about life in general, and I definitely felt like this book did that. There are so many references to different Bible verses, and I thought the book was very thought-provoking. If you’re feeling down or discouraged, I think this is the perfect book for you to read. I would probably even read this book a second time just because there is so much useful information in it. I also loved the narrator’s voice. I thought she was perfect for this book.

Historia
Cassie Hayward hates Christmas. Especially this year. No job. Flat broke. And an ex most definitely on the naughty list. But the unexpected inheritance of a Victorian cottage in the idyllic town of Poppy Creek may be the miracle Cassie needs. Except for one problem: a clause in the will. Cassie must complete a series of festive tasks for each day in December leading up to Christmas. Overseen by the disarmingly handsome, Christmas-loving lawyer Luke Davis.

Historia
Everyone from Wakarusa, Indiana, remembers the infamous case of January Jacobs, who was discovered in a ditch hours after her family awoke to find her gone. Margot Davies was six at the time, the same age as January—and they were next-door neighbors. In the twenty years since, Margot has grown up, moved away, and become a big-city journalist. But she’s always been haunted by the feeling that it could’ve been her. And the worst part is, January’s killer has never been brought to justice.

Started strong but lost steam at the end
Revisado: 08-24-22
The first half of this book was amazing, up until the author decided to “go woke” and add in a gay relationship that didn’t make any sense for the time period or the city where it took place. This is an area with a large Amish population. The last 1/4 of the book felt like the author was trying too hard to create twists and turns. There were too many of them and it made the ending anti-climactic, in my opinion. Overall, I think Ashley Flowers did a great job writing her first book. She’s a very talented writer and I recommend the book. It’s definitely worth reading. I’m from the area where the book took place and it was fun hearing all the town names that are so familiar.

Historia
They say you can never go home again, and for Persephone Fraser, ever since she made the biggest mistake of her life a decade ago, that has felt too true. Instead of glittering summers on the lakeshore of her childhood, she spends them in a stylish apartment in the city, going out with friends, and keeping everyone a safe distance from her heart. Until she receives the call that sends her racing back to Barry’s Bay and into the orbit of Sam Florek—the man she never thought she’d have to live without.

This is the best book I’ve read in a long time. The narrator did an amazing job and sounded just like I would’ve imagined the main character to sound. I love the story in the way it played out. Such a great book!

Interesting Read
Revisado: 07-05-22
First, this narrator was great! I found the first half of the book particularly interesting. The second half felt, to me, like she was trying to air all her dirty laundry, maybe for a future presidential run? I don’t blame her. She’ll now have a reference, in her own words, that the media or anyone else can reference. I think it was a smart move. I particularly enjoyed reading about her childhood and it’s easy to see that her upbringing helped form her into the strong woman she is now.

Historia
In Metsan Valo, her family home on Lake Superior, Anni Halla’s beloved grandmother has died. Among her fond memories, what Anni remembers most vividly is her grandmother’s eerie yet enchanting storytelling. By firelight she spun tall tales of spirits in the nearby forest and waters who could heal - or harm - on a whim. But of course those were only stories.

Well Written but Didn’t Love It
Revisado: 10-08-21
I’m a huge Wendy Webb fan but this story wasn’t my favorite. It’s beautifully written and the imagery is wonderful, as it is with all Wendy Webb books, but the story itself was not my favorite. It was too out there and I wish the love story part of the book had been developed a little more.

Historia
Ever have one of those days where life just plain sucks? Welcome to my last three months - ever since I caught my can’t-be-soon-enough-ex-husband cheating with his paralegal. I’m 35 years old, and I’ve lost my NYC apartment, my job, my money, and frankly, my dignity. But the final heartache in the suck sandwich of my life? My great-aunt Maggie died. The only family member who’s ever gotten me. Even after death, though, she’s helping me get back up again. Too bad that bravado only lasts as long as it takes to drive into Huckleberry Hills. And see the house.

I listen to a lot of audiobooks! This is, by far, one of the best ones I’ve read. It was so interesting and funny. I didn’t realize it was sort of a romance when I started it but I loved that it turned into that. You will absolutely love this book!

Texas, 1921. A time of abundance. The Great War is over, the bounty of the land is plentiful, and America is on the brink of a new and optimistic era. But for Elsa Wolcott, deemed too old to marry in a time when marriage is a woman’s only option, the future seems bleak. Until the night she meets Rafe Martinelli. By 1934, the world has changed; millions are out of work and drought has devastated the Great Plains. Elsa must make an agonizing choice: fight for the land she loves or leave it behind and go west, to California, in search of a better life for her family.

So Depressing It Hurts
Revisado: 05-14-21
When the book started, it was tragic and very depressing. I kept holding on thinking there was going to be some turnaround where things got better, but that never came. It was hours upon hours of listening to the most depressing story ever. Hours of this family struggling. It was too much. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, it does. The author is obviously a talented writer and the narrator is fabulous, but the story is awful. I would not recommend.
