More interested in the events play out

This book gets a lot of heat for being all over the place or being boring even, but I am more of a lore person than a literature person. I don't rate books by how the character's story evolves or how it leads up to the climax or anything like that overdone chore, but to know how things happen even if I'm not interested in the characters themselves. I won't remember most of these character's names, but I know what has happened and what they've more or less done. At one point I shed tears for how a certain character dies while the other still lives despite the Armageddon of war.
People unsurprisingly don't have much insight into Perturabo, not even putting together his whole life up to that point as he finally decides for himself. They think his decision was out of nowhere instead of a buildup as the background of the corruption of the legions are ever more apparent and rampant. I wouldn't force them to learn more about Perturabo, but just to let them know that, just like in the lore, people tend to underestimate him.

Delicious Lore

Even the Thunder Legions carried attributes of their successors, like the Iron Warriors apparently. The lore of how it would come to be was neat to learn. I don't read these books for their plotting of beginning middle and end, but to learn what it was that happened, and put together what could happen.

I bought this book for the Iron Warriors, but they only start getting good spotlight at the second third of the story, and got a satisfying near-ending with Perturabo.

If you already bought short stories for any of the three here don't buy it. "Stone and Iron" is in this and I had already bought it before this, I suspect the same for Konrad and Malcador.
