Historia
For some it’s an opportunity. For others it’s a moment to question their faith: In God, in science, in everything. Still others try to keep the world running in the face of absurdity and uncertainty. And then there are the billions looking to the sky and wondering how a thing that was always just there is now... something absolutely impossible.

it didn't hit as intended
Revisado: 04-08-25
I usually adore Scalzi, and there is some great stuff in this book, the beginning chapters are absolutely amazing and the format of jumping from one little story to another isn't particularly bad, but it took me out of the story when it's announced that the world is going to end. I feel like post-covid it's some kind of metaphor, but the dark comedy just feels dark and empty after a real pandemic. Maybe in 2019 I would have felt differently, or maybe it's because Covid impacted my country (Uruguay) differently that it did the US, but after the midpoint of the book i feel like it slipped. Still liked it, and will continue enjoying Scalzi, but for me it just felt weird

Historia
Why are we here? Do ghosts exist? Will we ever travel back in time? Are we being visited by extraterrestrials? Will we ever talk to animals? Are we being told the truth? Are mysterious creatures roaming the Earth? And why, when you’re in the shower, does the shower-curtain always billow in towards you? We don’t know the answers to any of these questions. But don’t worry, no matter what questions you have, you can bet on the fact that there is someone (or something) out there, investigating it on your behalf – and this book collects their latest findings.

Corrupt chapter time stamps
Revisado: 11-25-22
The time stamps for the chapters are not properly placed, meaning that it's much harder to re-listen to a specific part or keep track of how much of a chapter is left

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.
