The real story in this trilogy was lost
Revisado: 09-29-23
This is the 3rd book of a trilogy that was the continuation from a prior trilogy that started as a creative story...but each of these 3 have gotten progressively more trashy. They are so focused on the intimacies/"pleasure" that the story is totally lost, and honestly...I didn't enjoy them as much as I did the first trilogy. The alternating readers is also a little disconnected.

Historia
Forensic pathologist Dr. Kay Scarpetta has come almost full circle, returning to Virginia, the state where she launched her storied career, as the chief medical examiner. Finding herself the new girl in town once again after being away for many years, she’s inherited both an overbearing secretary and a legacy of neglect and potential corruption.

Dedicated Scarpetta Fan - wasn't disappointed
Revisado: 11-14-22
As usual, the storyline mixed the longtime evolution of the characters I've become invested in with current events. The things I may have not noticed reading the story, repetitive facts, minor details that help paint the visual or expand the scene, were really obvious in this format, and a little mundane and annoying...but again needed to paint the whole picture especially if I were reading the book.
The hardest part for me was the narration - I have read all of the series and hearing someone voice "Scarpetta and crew" was really an adjustment. They didn't sound like I hear them in my mind and I nearly stopped listening after chapter 2. I have since gotten used to it...but I hadn't expected that narration would have that type of an impact.
All in All...I wish I had the time to read this instead of listening, but I am glad I found a way to keep up since my time to sit and read has dramatically changed.
