I listen to audiobooks to help me fall asleep, but I have spent 3 very sleepless nights because I was so engaged in this book, right from the start. I can’t imagine the effort that went into researching and writing this story. It’s obvious it was a labor of love. I have a new favorite author in Debbie Rix, and Katie Villa was a superb narrator!

I must admit I had a hard time getting interested, but eventually I did. I think Trigiani went down too many rabbit trails and introduced too many minor characters, which were a distraction to the main story. That said, it was a good story though, and as usual, Ms. Trigiani rarely disappoints her readers.

Sounds like it was recorded in a tin can. Narrator was over the top. Story was not Kappes’s best either.

Masterful storytelling and exquisite narration. Very engaging and relatable tale of a friendship across the tracks united by the common cause of war and survival. One of Austin’s finest. Zimmerman’s narration is superb!

I am a huge Trigiani fan, but this book missed the mark. I never did understand the significance of the title Kiss Carlo, since it was mostly about Nicky. Some of the relationships seemed contrived and way too melodramatic. There was a mishmash of characters, and I couldn't see the value in continuing to mention some who no longer had value to the story. It was as if the author had a quota of pages to fill. The cover was beautiful and the title intriguing, but I thought this one fell flat.

First, let me say, I love Mary Kay Andrews. I believe I've read everything she's written. This story was a bit depressing and dark though, and when the "villain" was finally revealed, it seemed almost a joke. I also don't feel the gratuitous sex scenes and cursing add anything positive to her stories, which usually are so fun to read and can easily stand on their own. As an audible listener, it's even more offensive when these scenes are narrated aloud. I love a good whodunnit, and I have enjoyed many of her Callahan Garrity mysteries, but this one left me disappointed. On a positive note, the narrator was pretty good, so I was able to finish the book. I'd like some more of Mary Kay Andrews' fun Savannah tales.
