Historia
From Frank Brady, who wrote one of the best-selling books on Bobby Fischer of all time and who was himself a friend of Fischer’s, comes an impressively researched biography that for the first time completely captures the remarkable arc of Bobby Fischer’s life. When Bobby Fischer passed away in January 2008, he left behind a confounding legacy. Everyone knew the basics of his life—he began as a brilliant youngster, then became the pride of American chess, then took a sharp turn, struggling with paranoia and mental illness. But nobody truly understood him.

Outstanding Read About Americas GOAT
Revisado: 12-22-23
Arguably, Bobby Fischer was the greatest chess player of all time. This book does an excellent job explaining his life and idiosyncrasies that lead him to the top and how the same traits dropped him into the abyss.
I’m a 60 year old biker and I cried several times listening to this book. Ray Porter was the perfect narrator to lend voice to this audiobook. In particular, I appreciate that the author gave this remarkable man the respect that he deserved by giving honest accounts of the events and letting the listener/reader make their own mind up about Bobby Fischer’s achievements, criticism and decline without trying to sensationalize his fall.
Paul Carlisle
I am an avid lifelong chess player that owes my love of the game solely to Bobby Fischer.

Historia
On his last combat deployment, Lt. Cmdr. James Reece's entire team was killed in an ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government. Now, with no family and free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he's learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward revenge.

Habitual Brand Name Dropper
Revisado: 03-03-23
The story is so-so made terrible by the constant brand naming. I think the author is trying to add some “bling” to his story. It’s really distracting.
The narrator did a good job.
For the first time ever, the movie is better than the book.

Historia
Using his own experiences, log books, and correspondence with other U-boat crewmen, Hans Goebeler offers rich and personal details about what life was like in the German Navy under Hitler. Since his first and last posting was to U-505, Goebeler's perspective of the crew, commanders, and war patrols paints a vivid and complete portrait unlike any other to come out of the Kriegsmarine. He witnessed it all, from deadly sabotage efforts that almost sunk the boat to the tragic suicide of the only U-boat commander who took his life during World War II.

A well written and honest story about from perspectives I never considered. I enjoyed this book and constantly found myself googling places, people aircraft, and boats related to the U505. I highly recommend it and plan on buying a physical copy.

The Horrors of Fox Hollow Farm provides detailed insights from the original criminal investigation as well as the perspectives of the man who survived Herb's attempt on his life. This chilling book also features actual supernatural evidence - from EVPs and psychic confirmations to first-hand accounts of the disembodied hands and voices that regularly manifest on the estate.

Are you serious?
Revisado: 02-08-23
The narration is average.
This book starts off by giving Herbs wife Julie a fictional name. Why would the author do that? Essential parts of the story are swept over. 30 minute podcasts spend more time on Herbs backstory. I can not finish this book.

Historia
On July 14th, 1966, Richard Franklin Speck swept through a quiet Chicago townhouse like a summer tornado and stabbed, strangled, and killed eight young nurses in a violent sexual rampage. By morning, only one nurse, Corazon Amurao, had miraculously survived, and her scream of terror was heard around the world. As the eight bodies were carried out of the small building, the coroner, who had seen the carnage up close, told a gathering crowd: "It is the crime of the century!"

IMHO, the narrators is a bad match for this story. It was very hard for me to hear the story around her voice.

Historia
In 1985, Charles Ng and Leonard Lake were spotted shoplifting. Ng escaped, but Lake's capture led police to a concrete bunker in the Sierra Nevada foothills, where they discovered the grisly evidence of an orgy of sex crimes, torture, and murder that claimed at least 16 victims. Lake committed suicide: Ng fled to Canada, where he was tracked down and extradited to California. This 14-year, $10 million legal case was the costliest and longest criminal prosecution in California history.

Historia
In February 1990, Oregon State Police arrested John Sosnovke and Laverne Pavlinac for the vicious rape and murder of Taunja Bennet. Pavlinac had come forth and confessed, implicating her boyfriend and producing physical evidence that linked them to the crime. Authorities closed the case. There was just one problem. They had the wrong people. And the real killer wasn't about to let anyone take credit for his kill.
