Wow, great story.
Revisado: 10-03-15
This book took about a chapter to get into. It builds from humble beginnings to places that I could not have dreamt of. Fantastic character development. And the narration was the best I've ever heard in an audio, and I've listened to a few now. Will be looking for more books by the author and the narrator

Historia
Defying both civil authorities and the Mormon establishment in Salt Lake City, the renegade leaders of these Taliban-like theocracies are zealots who answer only to God; some 40,000 people still practice polygamy in these communities. At the core of Krakauer’s book are brothers Ron and Dan Lafferty, who insist they received a commandment from God to kill a blameless woman and her baby girl. Beginning with a meticulously researched account of this appalling double murder, Krakauer constructs a bone-chilling narrative of messianic delusion, polygamy, savage violence, and unyielding faith.

Fascinating insight into religion
Revisado: 02-12-15
What did you love best about Under the Banner of Heaven?
Narration was excellent. Very well written weaving the stories of current crimes into a tapestry with historical events. I was educated whilst being entertained.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes, the history of the LDS and its FDLS offshoots are fascinating, especially as you compare and contrast their zealots
What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Nuance
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes

Historia
When Jephtha Kent leaves his family to go north, the Kents come under the influence of Louis, the most opportunistic son. While the nation splits on secession and slavery, the Kents nearly fall to greed and self-interest. The Civil War divided families and friends and left wounds some of which are still not healed. That the Kents survived was a miracle: that they came through with vigor intact held great promise for the rich decades that lay ahead. The Titans is the fifth volume in the Kent Family Chronicles preceded by The Furies.

Good information, but delivery a bit painful

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Lots of theory, not too practical. If you are looking for help, this book takes you on a long journey to what are in the end, some very simple concepts.
