Historia
It has been six years since entertainment agent Myron Bolitar last played superhero. In six years he hasn't thrown a punch. He hasn't held, much less fired, a gun. He hasn't called his friend Win, still the scariest man he knows, to back him up or get him out of trouble. All that is about to change...because of a promise.

I'm only 3/4 of the way thru the first book, Promise Me and I can't wait to get to the book narrated by Steven Weber. Harlan is one of the best authors but one of the worst narrators I have ever heard.

Historia
With this anthology, best-selling author Brad Meltzer introduces 21 original stories from today’s most prominent mystery writers. In Laura Lippman’s "Waco 1982", a young reporter stuck with a seemingly mundane assignment on lost-and-found boxes unwittingly discovers a dark crime. In Joseph Finder’s "Heirloom", a scheming neighbor frightens the new couple on the block with an unnerving tale of buried treasure. In R. L. Stine’s "High Stakes", a man on his honeymoon gets drawn into a bizarre bet involving a coffin, a bet he may pay for with his life.

Stellar collection trashed by last story
Revisado: 08-18-17
I enjoyed every story until I was blindsided by the filthy language in the last story. What made it even worse was that it was written and narrated by women. I served in the artillery during the Vietnam era and never heard such a filthy mouth. What would have been 5 stars yet.

Over the top
Revisado: 12-19-16
The author gives too much credit to the enhanced intelligence and therefore to his own intelligence. Things have to be explained as if only an enhanced person would think of it when it's plainly obvious to the reader, and I'm surely not enhanced nor even super intelligent. On an unrelated issue, I don't think so casual a use of the f bomb is necessary to the story.

Historia
Quentin Coldwater is brilliant but miserable. A senior in high school, he's still secretly preoccupied with a series of fantasy novels he read as a child, set in a magical land called Fillory. Imagine his surprise when he finds himself unexpectedly admitted to a very secret, very exclusive college of magic in upstate New York, where he receives a thorough and rigorous education in the craft of modern sorcery.

Too much freaking swearing.
Revisado: 07-26-16
I can handle a few swear words now and then but the f word was used totally unnecessarily too fetching many times for it to have any meaning at all. When I was in the army there were guys that used it as punctuation for their language. It only made them come off as uneducated. The author is obviously well educated, so why all the swearing?

Historia
Conventional wisdom suggests English is going to the dogs, that bad grammar, slang, and illogical constructions signal a decline in standards of usage - to say nothing of the corruption wrought by email and text messages. But English is a complicated, marvelous language. Far from being a language in decline, English is the product of surprisingly varied linguistic forces, some of which have only recently come to light. And these forces continue to push English in exciting new directions.

Historia
Drawing on new interviews and previously unavailable documents, James Mann offers a fresh and compelling narrative - a new history assessing what Ronald Reagan did and did not do to help bring America's four-decade conflict with the Soviet Union to a close. As he did so masterfully in Rise of the Vulcans, Mann sheds new light on the hidden aspects of American foreign policy.

Too much repetition
Revisado: 05-01-15
His story about Ronald Reagan was pretty much accurate. He could have, however, achieved it with a shorter book. I liked his depiction of Berlin, especially during the Kennedy years as I observed it firsthand living in Berlin from April 1962 until October 1964.

Historia
His memory is blank. He only knows that he was flushed out of the Mediterranean Sea, his body riddled with bullets. There are a few clues. A frame of microfilm surgically implanted beneath the flesh of his hip. Evidence that plastic surgery has altered his face. Strange things that he says in his delirium -- maybe code words. Initials: "J.B." And a number on the film negative that leads to a Swiss bank account, a fortune of four million dollars, and, at last, a name: Jason Bourne.

Historia
That the average adult spends 50 to 70 percent of their day sitting is no surprise to anyone who works in an office environment. But few realize the health consequences they are suffering as a result of modernity's increasingly sedentary lifestyle, or the effects it has had on society at large. In Get Up!, health expert James A. Levine's original scientific research shows that today's chair-based world, where we no longer use our bodies as they evolved to be used, is having negativeconsequences on our health.

A Good Wake-Up Call
Revisado: 01-14-15
This book adds further evidence to the findings by John J Ratey, Spark: which I also thought was revolutionary. We as a nation and as concerned citizens of the world should wake up to the future we are facing if we don't Get Up.
