Historia
Charlotte was supposed to be looking after the children, and she swears she was. She only took her eyes off of them for one second. But when her three kids are all safe and sound at the school fair, and Alice, her best friend Harriet’s daughter, is nowhere to be found, Charlotte panics. Frantically searching everywhere, Charlotte knows she must find the courage to tell Harriet that her beloved only child is missing. And admit that she has only herself to blame.

Completely ridiculous
Revisado: 05-23-24
The only reason I listened to the whole book was to find out what happened to the little girl. Every character was unlikable. I truly hated how the author tried to make me like the characters with redeeming characteristics at the end. It was forced. Amateur. Beginner level.
This story used stereotypes that are very rare in real life. It is a study on extremes. I wish I could return it even though it was free…

It was four o'clock in the morning. A young woman pushed through the hospital doors. Staff would later say they thought the woman was a new mother, returning to her child - and in a way, she was. She walked into the nursery, where a baby girl lay sleeping. The infant didn't wake when the woman placed her gently in the shopping bag she had brought with her. There is CCTV footage of what happened next, and most Australians would have seen it, either on the internet or the news.

I wasn’t expecting this to be so good!
Revisado: 09-11-23
The story started out haltingly but then started to flow. The narrator took a minute to get used to but performed the part perfectly. I read in another review he shouted like a robot but when the context is considered, he read the part perfectly. Just a man telling a story.
For those who didn’t hang in for the end of the book, go back and listen. I was crying at the end. Beautiful, tragic story. Well done!

What the heck is this?
Revisado: 08-14-22
After a valiant effort, I gave up. The stories were, for lack of a better term, stupid. Who gave it five stars must have been paid a lot of money.
I feel bad for the narrator and he gave a decent effort.

When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity. Cloning, feel-good drugs, anti-aging programs, and total social control through politics, programming, and media: has Aldous Huxley accurately predicted our future? With a storyteller's genius, he weaves these ethical controversies in a compelling narrative that dawns in the year 632 A.F. (After Ford, the deity). When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity.

Great dystopian future, terrible performance
Revisado: 06-21-22
I have read this book and was excited to find it here! Unfortunately the narration was horrible. The setting is London, the accents were Scottish and over dramatic. Only because I love the story, I suffered through the reading.

Historia
The Grand Hotel is a horror novel by esteemed best-selling author Scott Kenemore ( Zombie, Ohio) that takes the reader on a thrilling ride through an interconnected series of stories narrated by the desk clerk and the residents of the hotel itself. And while it is not known whether or not the desk clerk is actually the devil incarnate, it is strange that so many visitors who come for a tour of the hotel have a way of never leaving.

Wait for it...
Revisado: 09-18-21
This book is a slow burn. There is no real horror unless you understand the underlying meaning which is only shown at the end.
It is a journey through what defines us as humans and the beauty that is revealed.
I love the narrator. He is an Olympian of voices! Each character is so perfectly defined that there is no confusion to whom is speaking.
This novel is humanity defined. Please take a chance and disregard the negative reviews. Profound thoughts resonate through even the lowliest characters,

What a ride!
Revisado: 06-25-21
This series had me laughing, crying and at the edge of my seat! Certain deaths of characters had me both angry and shouting in triumph. RC Bray brings such life to the characters you will wish they were real because of the depth of feeling conveyed.
Yes, parts are superhuman and unreal; yes, parts are understood to be beyond our personal compression... But, the weaving of human emotions and super human endurance eptoimezes the culmination of human error and perseverance that one cannot help but be drawn in and feel for the characters presented.
I recommmend this series to anyone with heart.

Author of the National Book Award-winning All the Pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy is one of the most provocative American stylists to emerge in the last century. The striking novel Blood Meridian offers an unflinching narrative of the brutality that accompanied the push west on the 1850s Texas frontier.

Waste of time
Revisado: 10-15-19
I was completely lost in this book even to the point of starting it over to try to figure out what it was about.
Basically a string of characters with nothing interesting about them going on a murderous rampage that was completely disjointed and confusing.
If I had it in paperback I would use it for toilet paper.

A woman disappears on her way to work. A man is convicted of her murder. But this case is different. Though the police believe they have the right man, key components of the prosecution case are missing. There is no body of the victim, no witnesses to the crime, no confession and no physical evidence: no DNA, CCTV or murder weapon.

Not bad but not great
Revisado: 07-10-19
I loved the theme and intrigue of this story. The characters were well developed and I was upset when one of them died.
The downside was the absolutely unbelievable amount of injury these characters endured. It’s like a bad b move where the bad guy keeps coming after being shot in the chest with a shotgun. That was overboard in my opinion.
Overall I will probably listen again at some point.

Historia
Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.
