didn't live up 2 hype
Revisado: 04-17-20
this is absolutely a personal opinion but I felt like this book and The Hobbit were letdowns. Probably bc I've been hearing how amazing these stories and the movies are. I'm very late to the party. I thought I'd fall in love with the story like I did for others but I truly struggled to finish, had to mute the sound every awful time the narrator sang a painfully long don't, and I was very easily distracted. it was far from captivating

the narrators captured my heart many times throughout the book. Rare. however, though the story line had many moving parts, as a whole I was disappointed. I'm curious as to whether or bitter any i real. like whether or not there was such girls , and if they were betrayed by their giveth government and buried

Historia
On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.

I am a bipolar woman....
Revisado: 09-25-18
this book was devastating, and very difficult to finish. it really brought me to tears and broke my heart because I've been a James Patterson fan for a long time. Although the women's murder Club books have never been the quality of other books I've read by him, I still like them enough to listen until now. I'm shocked actually... the author's take Liberty with the use and abuse of mental illness. I've been living with bipolar my entire adult life. I have attempted suicide 3 times been committed to psychiatric units 4 *, I've lost jobs and been unable to care for myself more times than I can count. I've been stigmatized, I've been scared and I hear voices which are very similar to the Maine antagonist. his description of voices he hears were so dead on it scared me. the entire group of good guys was very inappropriate. I think the author's could have handled their story with more compassion and utilized more of the talents they have with stories and words. that absolutely could have been a much better buck if it wasn't like a factory for the authors just consumed with quick sloppy writing in order to turn profit. people probably don't read these reviews. I don't very often. I'm positive that authors wouldn't be reading this but I needed to stand up for mental illness. could have told the same story... that's line from Yuki about her being bipolar sometimes... Oh we all hear voices... I don't know just a shity book and I encourage you not to support it take a stand. decide not to read it or listen to it just in support of yourself or people you love or have any compassion toward that suffer and living with mental illnesses

One day, he's tracked down by an uncle he barely knows - a man his mother claimed was dangerous. Uncle Randolph tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god. not as good as Percy
Revisado: 04-17-18
I've listened to all of the Percy Jackson books, Apollo series and just finished this first book of Magnus Chase. I cant help compare them. Percy was an amazing listening experience. I'd recommend to anyone. First 2 Apollo books were very bad! The sound of the narrator's voice is painful to the ears!! Idk, story might be good but read by the absolute worst narrator I've listened to in more than 125 books! ruined the whole thing. I dragged my way thru bc I am listening to every book by this author. I'm obsessed with getting back the thrill of Percy! So, that said, Magnus Chase was much closer to enjoyment PJ books gave and way better than Apollo

the book had it's exciting moments true to Dan Brown style. however I found it redundant and reaching as opposed to the first two. I would love to have the last hour completely eliminated. I'll still go on with the next book, hopeful magic can be recreated.
