Not sure what the fuss is about
Revisado: 06-10-17
What was most disappointing about Charlie Donlea’s story?
The events leading up to the ending and especially the ending.
Which character – as performed by Nina Alvamar – was your favorite?
Olivia
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Yes, opens your eyes to aftermath of being found--how the world wants to see a survivor and how it becomes a sort of entertainment for consumption vs what the survivor really needs.
Any additional comments?
The story was meaty all the way through, but it crashed and burned for me.

Historia
Liz McGinnis never imagined herself living in a luxurious gated community like The Palms. Ever since she and her family moved in, she's felt like an outsider amongst the Stepford-like wives and their obnoxiously spoiled children. Still, she's determined to make it work - if not for herself, then for her husband, Phil, who landed them this lavish home in the first place, and for her daughter, Danielle, who's about to enter high school.

Character driven drama.
Revisado: 06-08-16
Great, rich characters. Story unfolded at a great pace with the drama building perfectly! The downfall for me was the unknowns in the end. Too many unanswered questions. I would have liked an epilogue.

Whole lotta bad
Revisado: 02-09-16
I'll start with horrible narrator. Her voice made everyone sound like they were elderly when these women were all child bearing. The story was preposterous. Everyone was a complete moron from Dr's to the women and their families. I kept waiting for some storyline to appear, but it droned on and on and then it was just over. Fizzled out. Don't waste your credit.

The girls have lost their thunder!
Revisado: 06-22-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The series used to be fast paced and fun. This book was a slow build to an unsatisfying conclusion. I don't care what happens to them anymore.
What was most disappointing about James Patterson and Maxine Paetro ’s story?
***Spoiler Alert***The most disappointing to me was the out of nowhere, ridiculous and nothing to do with anything, additional cruise ship hostage situation. Really??????? I guess even James Patterson has to run out of ideas eventually.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Unlucky 13?
Everything to do with the cruise ship hostage story line.

Historia
It's an idyllic New England summer, and Sadie is a precocious only child on the edge of adolescence. It seems like July and August will pass lazily by, just as they have every year before. But one day, Sadie and her best friend play a seemingly harmless prank on a neighborhood girl. Soon after, that same little girl disappears from a backyard barbecue - and she is never seen again. Twenty years pass, and Sadie is still living in the same quiet suburb. She's married to a good man, has two beautiful children, and seems to have put her past behind her.

Longings? More like too Long.
Revisado: 10-24-13
What could Karen Brown have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Too much superfulous writing. The pace was painfully slow.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Arielle DeLisle?
narrator was fine.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Longings of Wayward Girls?
there was so much sheer boredom, I couldn't even pick any particular scene.

Another great Jodi Picoult novel
Revisado: 03-15-11
As usual, her story is character driven and you feel empathy towards all the characters. In the age of the changing family dynamic--same sex unions, Jody manages to challenge you to think outside the box. As a mom, I was putting myself if Zoe's shoes, but I could also see both sides of the issue--still siding with mom, of course. She always manages to throw us all for a loop towards the ends of her books, and I found myself wondering when it was coming and what was it going to be. She never lets us down. As always, a great read that challenges you and adds food for thought. Loved the story, but could have done without the awful music that accompanied the story. I know it was done for dramatic effect, but I don't think my audio books need a soundtrack to be more listenable. The songs were a terrible impression of 70s folk music--just awful--easy to fast foward through through.

Loved the book, hated the 'ending' spoiler alert
Revisado: 10-22-10
This book came highly recommended by someone who was currently reading it and was enjoying it very much. I too loved the book. At first. It's hard to find a book where you truly feel invested in all the characters. I thought the heroine was brave, smart, determined and wanted her to find her resolution in the end. Only the ending was a huge let down. I felt like I wasted all those hours waiting to find out what would happen when she finally found and confronted her murderous mom, but that resolution never came. The book was exciting all the way through and then just fizzled out and faded away. I know that in life there sometimes just isn't closure or resolutions, but that's why I read books. I expect a beginning and middle, and an end, but it just felt like the book was cut off. All of a sudden it was just over. Definitely disappointed after such a great read.
