Finding stories from this genre acted out is difficult though the supply of now public domain mysteries from this time and genre is great. This essemble does a credible job helping to breathe life into wonderful stories in danger of being lost to time.

The sound quality of A Matter of Honour may be affected as a result.

Just what I was looking for.

I like cozy mysteries, but think too cutesy cozys are dumb. I like paranormal, but can't stand when people get too serious with some darkly disturbing beliefs. My favorite books are THE RIVALS OF SHERLOCK HOLMES and THE VINTAGE PARANORMAL DETECTIVES series from coachwhip which is like the rivals of sherlock holmes mash up with grown up scooby doo. I stumbled upon this as I tried to find anything new in this 'wheelhouse of interests' that wasn't cheesy or terrifying. or boring. This was great and the narrator is s big part of it. While I do like dramatizations I'm going to continue the series with this narrator.
If you liked scooby doo, but grew up and got more sophisticated... boom! here you go!

Seriously when this same story was redone by the bbc in the 70's for tv, they removed the racial slurs... why leave it in? You can surely convey the historical racism of the character/and maybe the author without the repeated use of taboo slurs. Even foot note it if needed.
If the original text is so important to preserve perhaps it should be left behind in history.
