Historia
They sent me into the blasted lands to die. I refused. I lived. And now...I return to the empire that discarded me. A god, rich with worship. I don't know what has become of Hasra, or the war with the Fomori. I don't know where Li is, or if her homeland is still dealing with the wyrm Khonsu. My sister and mother were freed—the reward for my blood price— but I have no idea what has become of them. It is time to go home. Time to right old wrongs, and to find the legacy left behind by my former incarnation. Three tombs remain. Once I am certain my family is safe I will seek them.

A fun surprise
Revisado: 02-07-22
So I found the author on youtube and enjoyed watching her reviews of other authors and decided to give her a crack myself. I went into the book absolutely blind. I'm pleased to say I was pleasantly surprised. The story and characters were solidly constructed and fun to follow. The plot was smooth and there weren't any glaring holes or issues to be found. The strength of the book was definitely in the characters as they navigated their circumstances. The performer was also brilliant. There wasn't a single point in which I felt like I was losing interest in the story. Fantasy romance isn't my primary genre but this was a fun diversion.

Slow to start but the end will hook you
Revisado: 11-03-21
I wasn’t sure what to expect jumping into a story set so long after the events of the first three books, but it did a good job of setting an opening and ending. The middle sagged a little, but that could just be my own personal exhaustion and inability to focus on some of the new story elements. Far fewer explodey’s than the previous books. But also sets up far more complicated scenarios. It lost me a little but pulled me back in for the end. I’ll give the rest a fair shake too :)

In game story seems covered, but...
Revisado: 02-27-21
The author introduces a rather unique reason for playing said game. But he pretty much drops it off the table as soon as the game begins. Later on the mc mentions things related to his out of game circumstances and left me scratching my head feeling like I’d missed something. Still, it was a fun read/listen.

Historia
In the three years since former fleet officer Rob Geary and former marine Mele Darcy led improvised forces to repel attacks on the newly settled world of Glenlyon, tensions have only gotten worse. When one of Glenlyon's warships is blown apart trying to break the blockade that has isolated the world from the rest of human-colonized space, only the destroyer Saber remains to defend it from another attack. Geary's decision to take Saber to the nearby star Kosatka to safeguard a diplomatic mission is a risky interpretation of his orders, to say the least.

This series needs a third entry. Now.
Revisado: 04-30-19
Seriously. Listening to this has been a blast. Between the voice talent, and the story this has been one of my more favorite series to listen to. The pacing and length all give it an almost episodic tv show feel. I like the more condensed chronology compared to some other books that are constant battles. This one takes its time, and really picks apart the action like a chess match with spectators. Anxiously awaiting the third.

So I mostly just listened to these for the entertainment value, and I was no disappointed. If this were a YouTube or Netflix series I’d be a happy kitten. Jay, Khristine and Mark’s voices all just bring these characters to life in a way that words alone fail to do.

Jay Snyder did a great job of carrying this piece, but I missed Kristine’s portrayal of Maddie and Stealth.
