The wrong narrator

I usually love these books and Susan Boyce did a beautiful job narrating them. I also love Suzanne Erickson‘s narrations, but of the JD Robb In Death books. I so struggled trying to get through this book. I finally had to give up. The inflections and timing and pacing are no different than Erickson does in the JD Robb books and that does not work for this series. I constantly kept losing track of the story and having to go back. Extremely disappointed.

I really wanted to like this story, but even a few chapters into it I was wondering if I wanted to finish it. The reader makes everything sound like it’s a dire situation. Think the narrator in a horror movie. I wanted to slap the main character silly because she’s full of tons of self-pity. The storyline is pretty much a formula, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but there wasn’t enough additional Characters and pieces of the storyline to make it truly interesting.

Wow!! Just Wow!

I’ve read all of Molly Harper‘s books to date and this is absolutely the best. The character development is wonderful, attention to detail and storyline are engaging. I could not put this book down I listen to it almost start to finish in just a few days. Could Sarah/Cassie be the next Harry Potter? Quite possibly. Amanda Ronconi’s performance as always is spot on. I wanted to cry, I wanted to laugh, and I wanted to jump for joy.

Yes! I was enthralled from the very first.
Any additional comments?
I loved the concept and the beautiful storytelling. My imagination was on high alert and I could visualize the circus coming to life. The only disconcerting part was the narrator also read the Harry Potter books and since I listened to all of them I kept thinking of Dumbldore and Harry. But a minor quibble because he did a beautiful job with these books too.
